IBM Is Using AI to Protect Your SSD
The IBM Storage Defender is here to protect you from ransomware attackers.

In some of my earlier stories, I’ve talked about different stuff about PCs. You can find the links to those at the end of this post. Today, I want to chat about IBM’s Storage Defender, a cool tool that uses AI to keep ransomware attackers at bay.
IBM has created a cool new technology that helps protect your data from ransomware attacks. They’ve added it to their FlashCore modules, which are used by big businesses. This tech can scan all the data coming in and out of your storage in real-time. If it spots something fishy, like ransomware trying to encrypt your files, it stops it in its tracks before any damage is done.
The folks at IBM talked about this new tech in a blog post, where they mentioned how big of a deal ransomware is for companies. Apparently, 89% of organizations think ransomware is one of the biggest threats they face. That’s no small thing — it’s not like they can just fix it over a casual chat during their coffee break.
IBM’s technology, called IBM Storage Defender, uses AI-powered sensors to quickly spot ransomware and other nasty threats. These sensors are super accurate, so they don’t raise false alarms. When they detect something fishy, they alert your security tools, which can then stop the attack and help you recover your files.
Using AI to catch ransomware is a smart move. Ransomware takes time to encrypt your files, which means there’s a chance to stop it before it’s too late. IBM’s tech is targeted at big companies that need top-notch security. But who knows, maybe in the future, this kind of protection will be available for regular folks like us who use PCs at home.
When I first heard about AI-powered SSDs, I was a bit skeptical. But protecting against ransomware? That’s something I can definitely get behind. Sure, it’s easy to be cynical about AI hype, but when it comes to stopping scammers and ransomware attackers, I’m all for it.
Final Words
Ransomware is a big problem worldwide. Even big gaming companies like Bandai Namco, Sony, and Capcom have fallen victim to it.
It just goes to show that no one is safe, not even tech giants like Nvidia. So, anything that can help stop ransomware attacks is definitely worth celebrating.
