I joined the Substack crew
What was I thinking? :/

A month ago today, I discovered Medium.
I’d heard a lot about this platform from clients and bloggers all over the internet, but I never thought to give it too much of my attention.
On the 28th of August, despite hearing nothing but negative reviews, I decided to give it a go. I thought I would not be a good digital marketing manager, if I couldn’t tell my customers from experience whether this rather fashionable trend is worth pursuing.
To date, I’ve been very conservative about blogging. Owning my own blog on a self-hosted platform has always been a priority. Using a blueprint that’s been tried and tested for many years and in various niches — always brought me and my clients great results.
Of course, you must remember, blogging is not a ‘get-rich-quick scheme’.
But anyhow.
I’ve been writing every day since the 28th of August, and today, I have 30 articles published.
I‘ve been documenting my journey here on the platform from day one. You can check them all out here.
I’ve seen great results. I’ve worked out the formula that brought the results. And I tripled down on it.
At one point, I felt like I hit the jackpot.
I’ve had no boosted articles, only organic traffic from Medium, and traffic from my Pinterest. (as I did set up a new Pinterest account specifically to drive traffic to my Medium posts)
Things were going great. But, as you might have noticed it too, our earnings for the same amount of effort as only a few days before, have been drastically reduced.

I know, it’s impossible to figure out the algorithm, and frankly, there’s no point anyway.
After assessing everything and feeling rather adventurous, I joined the Substack crew yesterday.
Easy. Free and pretty effortless.
But Substack is different. In many ways. While I can post about anything and everything here, I feel that Substack is a very ‘niche’ oriented platform.
Just like my previous blogs were. And because I run blogs for a living, I thought the most appropriate topic for my Substack newsletter would be ‘blogging’.
After a quick two minute brainstorming session, BlogBytes by Denisa was born.

I will remain subscribed to Medium and will continue to post all kinds of content here (because I love the community), and if I’m honest, Substack seems a bit all over the place. (at the moment)
Success is all about exposure. Expose yourself and your content to a wide range of audience. Some strategies are better than others, but unless you’ve tried them, you’ll never know.
Thank you for being here.
