I made $22.00 on Medium during my first 10 days , now I’m upping my game
Here’s how I’m going to triple it in the next 10 days

‘Medium? Yeah, right, I said to myself a mere two weeks ago. But ever since I joined on the 28th of August, 14 days ago today, I can’t help but admit, that maybe I should have signed up for it a lil’ bit earlier. Hmmm, Anyway, no ‘could have, should have, would have’ is going to make any difference now, so might as well accept it and move on.
As I was saying, two weeks ago, I decided to wholeheartedly commit myself to this new adventure. But after all the changes Medium introduced at the beginning of last month, I couldn’t help but wonder, “I am too late joining the party?”
So I put my Sherlock hat on, pulled out my magnifying glass, and started digging. After some lightweight research and taking into account the [MY TIME x MY EFFORT = MONEY] formula, I decided to take the plunge. And because I felt adventurous, I committed to posting one story a day for the next 30 days. Now, I know what you’re thinking, We’re only 14 days in so what am I going on about? Exactly.
And this is what I’m about to reveal to you next.
Just like you, I’ve been looking at my stats. I went from 0 subscribers to 100 in just over a week. Yes, I do follow writers back, because I am aware of the name of the game. You know what I mean :). Because follow for follow, and like for like is how you get started. Unless you’re like Barack Obama or the next Tim Denning. Especially on a platform like this. Supporting each other is crucial. If I grow, you grow too. Deal? Everyone is putting real hard work and effort into earning a few pennies. Not only that, I found some really good writers on here. Now, if I did the maths right, my stories average out to around $1.92. I don’t think that’s too bad, but I’m also not ready to call Medium my new business empire. Yet.
So back to my title, “How I’m going to triple the $25 I earned from my last 13 articles?”
Drumroll pleeeeeaaaaaase 🥁🥁🥁
- I’m going to apply the same principles I applied to my blog that reached 100,000 subscribers. You read that right.
- Pinterest — Easy. Just like I drove traffic to my blog posts, how I drive traffic to my ebooks, and also how I’ve been bringing views to my YouTube channel. But Pinterest is a peculiar one — it’s not a social media platform. It’s a visual search engine. Package your posts, videos, books, or whatever you’re trying to sell into cute little Pinterest pins, or even better, Idea Pins, and let the magic unfold. So the plan is? As of tonight, I post 5 pins a day to each story to date. As of tomorrow, I’ll start with my idea pins too. I’ll be doing this for the next 10 days every day and review.
- I’ve been carefully studying some of the highest earners of this platform. To say, I didn’t have a clue who any of them were two weeks ago, I discovered quite a lot. The most compelling thing I found is that they all say the same things: be consistent, blah-blah-blah, post daily, blah-blah-blah, niche down or don’t, blah -blah -blah. But if you and I are doing exactly what they are doing, how come we’re not making $$$$$ ?? I know, I know — I’m a nobody. Nobody knows me. I’m just a Medium wannabe. But look — these people are posting not one, not two, but three and sometimes four stories a day to multiple and some of the most popular publications. Do you get it?
- And here’s when I had my lightbulb moment. The moment the fireworks went off and the path was illuminated. Hallelujah! No more fog, it’s all clear skies. Rainbows and sunshine. I’m riding on a unicorn. Woohoo! Hear me out! Anyone can call themselves a writer. But on this platform, right here, we are all writers. Whether you write casually — 1 or 2 posts a month, whether you write regularly 3–4 posts a week, whether you write tirelessly — 7 days a week, BUT — there is a big difference between these types of writers and the ones that are earning a full time living. They are the “full-time” writers. Now, I don’t know how long it takes for each and every one of them to compose their masterpiece or whether they get help with it, but I know, from at least what I’ve seen so far, that 1 post a day is ok — if you’re trying to earn peanuts and feed it to the birdies, but if you want to earn some real cash — that’s a whole new ballgame.
So, here I am. Once again, I find myself in deep introspection. I’m off to take some action on my plans.
Let me know how you’re journey is going. And I wish you all the best.
See ya all soon.
