SELF-IMPROVEMENT

I Give Myself Permission to Have a Break

Day 22, 50 questions for deep self-reflection

This is day 22 of the 50 Questions for Deep Self-Reflection challenge from Know Thyself Heal Thyself created by Diana C.

DAY TWENTY-TWO: How can you allow yourself to be seen and held in your humanness?

This is such great timing to ask me this question for two reasons. Firstly, because yesterday, I actively allowed myself to be held in my humanness by giving myself the space to just be. And secondly, because being seen has more depth to it now than ever before.

How can I allow myself to be HELD in my humaneness?

Well, I held myself in my humaneness yesterday by giving myself a day off from answering these questions. I was having a ‘meh’ day. And in fact, I wrote an article about having a meh day:

I could have meditated through it. I could have pulled my focus in. I could have forced myself to answer this question yesterday, but I chose not to. I chose, instead, to allow myself to just be in the space that I was in, and to not feel guilty about that, not to shame myself and not to force myself to do anything at all, but rather to just do what I wanted.

Yesterday, I did not feel like writing one of these posts, so I didn’t. And now that I have this question today, I’m really glad about that, because I feel like I preempted it. At that moment, I allowed myself to be held in my own humaneness.

The other part of the question is a little trickier.

How do I allow myself to be SEEN in my humaneness?

Now, of course, seen and held do go together but I’m separating them for a reason. You see, if you’ve been following along, you already know, but if you don’t, I’m trans-masc non-binary. So, allowing myself to be seen in my humaneness is a very interesting question, particularly because I’m quite early on my journey. Like many late bloomers, I had a time of having to come to terms with (and I’m still working through that) what it means to be trans, to be non-binary, to be other.

But this question is not about being seen externally. Because how anyone sees me, is not up to me. However, what is up to me is allowing myself to be seen and that’s about energetic resonance and attraction.

So, the way I allow myself to be seen in my humaneness is by continuing the journey that I’m on of being okay with myself, of getting to know me, of loving me, of allowing me to be everything that I was always supposed to be, to be who I was always supposed to be, and to see that in every other person I interact with.

So how can I allow myself to be seen and held in my humaneness?

  • By giving myself the respect to just be human
  • By allowing myself to see me, as just human
  • By accepting myself, that I’m becoming more me, and THAT is nobody’s business but my own
  • On the flip side of that, by knowing that what anybody else thinks about it is not about me
  • By giving all I interact with the same respect I expect of myself
  • By knowing that I’m being true to myself
  • By giving myself a break!
