I don’t believe in soulmates

But I believe in love

At least, not for me.

You might think me quite the cynic! But I’m not at all, at least not on this matter.

I LOVE that people are out there finding their soulmates. I find it so sweet and inspiring! It really helps to put my faith back in humanity :)

However, I don’t feel this is the path for everybody. I was going to elaborate here… But that’s part of the problem I think. We’re constantly explaining to others about why we’re not looking for “our” soulmates, or why we don’t believe in marriage, or why we don’t want to be in a relationship.

Why do we have to?

We’re all just walking to the beat of our own drummer :) Do you ask the music why it has the rhythm it does? Do you ask the drummer why they drum?

Clearly, these are bad examples, because you would indeed ask both of those questions. But you see my point!

When I was younger, I was as swept up with the idea of soulmates, just like everyone else my age was. Why live if not to find love?!

As I get older (well, early 30’s, but I’m pretty sure I was born old if that makes sense)… As I get older, I appreciate things I didn’t used to fully. I appreciate different kinds of love. Love of friends and family. Love of self. Love of just being alive in the universe! Love of cheesiness, too, I suppose.

I also appreciate not being in love.

I’ve had a hard few years, and I have great but reluctant pride in knowing I’ll overcome every obstacle with the strength and courage from my own heart. But, I sill appreciate every friend, family member, and person who has supported me along the way! And exes. The unsung heroes that broke your heart, screwed you over, and made you all the stronger. Thank goodness I didn’t marry any of them!

Well, maybe I’m a bit of a cynic after all :) but happily so!

I wish love and happiness to everyone who’s out there!

Whether it’s the soulmate kind, or any other good kind of love ❤

Have a great day!
