An Ode To Tea
Also, the silliest guilt I’ve ever felt!
Something very silly happened to me while writing my last post. I was joyfully writing an article for Read or Die! when all of a sudden, I came overcome with a sense of grief or guilt!
Why? It’s the silliest reason…
I gave a bunch of attention to my true love coffee, without even mentioning my other love, Tea!!! Can you even believe it?
While, yes it’s silly, I thought to myself, I MUST make this right for tea.
So, here you go Tea…
Tea, you calm me
Coffee, you’re sweet and lovely in so many ways, but the truth is…
You make me jittery
There, I admit it!
I love you, but sometimes I think we need some space
Tea, on the other hand,
You’re everything coffee isn’t
You’re pure
You’re wholesome
You have so much to offer,
And ask nothing for nothing return.
You bring a variety of aromas and flavors
Feeling bold today?
There’s a tea for that.
Feeling fruity or flowy? Whatever that means.
There’s a tea for that.
Need a pick me up? Need to go to sleep?
There’s a tea for that, and for that one, too!
There’s a perfect tea for every occasion, mood, and craving
Whatever your desire, Tea strives to make you happy
Wait, no, not that! Be reasonable. It’s just a drink.
But not just a drink, do you see?
Tea is peace, love, and tranquility all in a soul-soothing cup
But also bold, courageous, and fair.
So go ahead, put your kettle on
Boil up that water
Hear it bubble? It wants to be Tea.
It wants to go on that adventure with you.
It wants to calm your mind and soul.
It’s waiting for its destiny
Is the water done boiling? Good!
Pick out your favorite tea from your favorite collection.
(Oh no — Do you not have any Tea?!)
(That’s okay, run to the store and come back and start over! We’ll wait :)
Now, put your tea leaves or tea bag in your very favorite mug for Tea
(You know it’s not the same mug for Coffee!)
Pour the hot hot water from the kettle over your Tea leaves
Let the steam dance and the aromas soothe
Breathe it in
Now the hardest part, wait a whole bunch of minutes
Distract yourself — But don’t forget!
Patiently, but impatiently
Waiting for the Tea molecules to disperse
Transforming itself into a cup of sturdy goodness
Ready to warm you up, body, heart, and soul!
Tea is worth the wait
