I have been waiting for this day, and it took me months before this happened to me.

I changed my mindset about money. Before, I would always ask myself where will I get my next meal or get the money to pay my bills. But not anymore. I know money comes when I need it, and I can’t wait for the money to come in so that I can spend it with gratitude.

As I move forward with my life, it has been challenging in the months after her death. All I wanted is to mourn, to grieve.

But one day, I started writing again. And success has followed me ever since. MOM is watching me. She conspires with God and the Universe. Their holy alliance always showered me with signs, and unexpected blessings, and money that would come when I need it.

As a Medium writer, I didn’t do anything differently. I submitted to Medium-friendly publications. I wrote daily. I also stopped, waiting until my stories are perfect, as I once told myself,

10 Tips on How to make money on Medium.com

1. Love writing on Medium — Before you can make money here, you have to love what you do. Medium is not perfect. No platform is. When I hear top writers who were so used to earning six digits a month quit Medium when their monthly earning fell to a few hundred dollars. I can only shake my head in disbelief at the display of self-absorption.
2. Enough of obsessing with big Medium publications — I was like you, and I have written about big Medium publications. It shouldn’t be your priority. What you need are friendly publications and start your own Medium publications.
3. Write from your heart — Write as much as you can, but don’t be enslaved by it. Continue to try different things as a Medium writer. Stay curious. Visit the garden of your mind.
4. Understand the Medium audience — Medium as a social media platform, to me, it is, and a writing platform remains to be filled with the nicest people. It could also be because there are a lot of writers here. Read a lot to understand why people come to Medium to read stories.
5. Start saying NO — Especially to Medium publication editors who tell you how to write. When you see Medium publications as their first rule to accept you as their writer, write 1,000-word articles, walk away, better yet, run fast. A good story can have six words, as Hemingway showed us with this story, “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”
6. Chosen for Further Distribution — One of the things I was obsessed with before was Medium curation. I still aim for every article to be chosen for further distribution because it means I delivered a good story. It is icing on the cake. It is not the cake itself. Being chosen for further distribution doesn’t translate to views and money.
7. Quiet your inner critic — Never reject yourself. The inner critic is there to challenge you but not to make you quit. Enjoy the banter with your inner critic but always remember that there is also the inner voice, the quiet one, who cheers for you. Listen to that voice more often.
8. Stop comparing yourself with other Medium writers — All of us have a different life journey, and the same goes with our writing journey. Success isn’t measured alone by money or even at all. Money buys you stuff, nothing more. That said, I am here to keep on writing to make money online. Writing is my bread and butter.
9. Don’t play favorites with your stories — Love each story you write. I used to be embarrassed by my one-cent articles. I am sure you have those too. The ones that only a few have read. But now I love all my stories, with a special love for my one-cent articles. They made it possible to get into the “top” of the Medium Partner Program earnings.
