Summary

The article discusses strategies for achieving seemingly impossible goals in 2021 by setting quarterly milestones and monthly targets, with a focus on personal growth and adaptation in the face of a changing world.

Abstract

The author emphasizes the importance of reassessing goal-setting strategies in light of the unpredictable nature of 2020, advocating for a more focused and aggressive approach to personal objectives in the upcoming year. Instead of annual goals, the article suggests breaking down ambitions into quarterly milestones and monthly targets, using the example of becoming a Top Writer by increasing the output to 15-16 stories per month instead of the minimum required. This method aims to front-load the effort to achieve goals by June, providing a buffer for unforeseen circumstances and increasing the likelihood of success through consistent action. The author also reflects on the need to adapt to external changes by concentrating on internal growth and shares their personal approach to materializing goals through actionable plans and accelerated pathways.

Opinions

  • The traditional annual goal-setting is deemed ineffective, as many people lose momentum by March or April.
  • The author believes that people are not naturally inclined to sustain long-term goals over 12 months.
  • Achieving goals by June, rather than December, is seen as advantageous, providing additional time to tackle unexpected challenges or to exceed initial targets.
  • Writing more frequently and in greater volume is posited to significantly enhance the probability of reaching one's goals, particularly in the context of becoming a Top Writer on a platform.
  • The article suggests that setting and achieving goals is not just about the end result but also about personal growth and the journey itself.
  • The author's methodology includes creating a plan with clear actions and an accelerated timeline for success, reflecting a proactive and results-oriented mindset.

How To Achieve Your Impossible Goals In 2021!

2020 is a year of change and adaptation. Many things were beyond our control. That means we have to evolve to survive.

Some goals we have at the beginning of 2020 may not survive through the year. That shouldn’t be the case for 2021.

There is the external World and the internal World. It is time we focus on ourselves.

When it comes to goal setting, many of us expire by March. Maybe, April.

The reason is — We give ourselves 12 months to achieve what we set out to. It is way too long. And most of us aren’t wired for an endurance race.

What can we do?

Think about quarterly milestones and monthly targets.

For instance, you might be targeting to become the Top Writer in one specific category. Assume further that requires at least 100 stories of effort at a minimum.

That means 8.4 stories a month, leading to success by the end of December. This will allows us to end the year with a bang.

But reality doesn’t manifest the way we want it to. If only, right?

What happens if we write 8.4 stories a month and nothing happens by the end of December?

Our action plans must allow us to achieve our goals.

So, the best way to achieve our goal as the Top Writer is to set the goal at the beginning of the year and then mercilessly pull them towards us.

That means we have to bump that number up to 15–16 stories a month, instead of 8.4 stories. When we double that, 2 things happen.

One. We achieve our goals by June, instead of the end of December. That’s good because we have free capacity to achieve our goals.

Two. If we need more than 100 stories to achieve the Top Writer status, we have an additional runway in terms of time.

Also, the more we write and the more frequently we write — The higher the chance of achieving our goals.

This is how I intend to materialize my goals. It needs to be a plan with actions.

It has to be accompanied by an accelerated pathway to success as well.

How do you intend to set your goals and achieve them in 2021?
