Here’s How I More Than Tripled My Earnings For My Second Month On Medium
Here are my results for the month of March.
It’s only been 2 months since I’ve joined Medium.
Previously, I have uploaded my February results on Medium. If you are interested, you can check it out here:
30 days have passed since I published that article, and I’m glad that I have been doing well so far. I’ve never dedicated so much time to a side hustle so long before. Usually, I quit within the first month, but I’m happy that I’m still on this platform, publishing articles even after 40+ days.
Anyways, I shall not keep you waiting any further… so here are my results:

My earnings jumped from $4.95 in February to $17 in March. That’s more than a triple!
Of course, if you’ve read my previous article where I shared my February results, you will know that I only joined Medium in the middle of February, so the earnings shown do not accurately reflect my earning potential for that month; I probably could have earned more in February if I joined earlier.
Nonetheless, that’s still a huge jump in earnings (in my opinion at least)! For those who are curious, here’s how I did it:
Write More, Earn More
The reason why I earned more in the month of March was because I wrote more articles. As simple as that!
Some people would prefer quality over quantity, while others prefer quantity over quality. I would say if you can do both, why not. They are not mutually exclusive!
While I would advocate for people to write and publish every single day, I myself failed to do that, so I don’t think I have the right to get people to do that (oops!).
But the bottom line is this, if you write more, you will earn more. Besides, you never know when an article of yours will go viral, so writing more gives you a higher chance for one of your articles to go viral.
Upload to Big Publications
I did upload my articles to publications in February, but I mainly uploaded them to small publications. I don’t really have a great reason why I did not upload to larger publications, perhaps because I was afraid it is more difficult to upload to the larger ones since they are more established?
Anyways, I started uploading to big publications like ILLUMINATION. They were really nice to accept a couple of my articles, and the views generated from them were great too!
Write Trending Articles
I only recently started to use Google Trends to look for trending topics to talk about. It has been great so far because a large part of my views really came from those articles despite them being uploaded later in the month.
It also earned me quite a bit for some of the articles, though not so much since they were mainly external views and as we all know, external views don’t generate money. Nonetheless, considering that I don’t have a single article that really generated super-returns, my trending articles have really helped me quite a bit in the earnings.
My Top Earning Articles
How can I share my earnings without letting you know what are some of my top-earning articles, right?

Here are 4, and unfortunately the only 4, articles that generated more than a dollar for me for the month of March. If you would like to read them, you can check them out here:
I usually post finance-related and productivity-related articles, with some miscellaneous articles here and there (like this one!). Somehow, it is mainly the finance-related articles that generated the most money for me.
My Views
My views for the month of March haven’t been spectacular, at least for the start. Somehow towards the end of March, one of my articles started to pick up views. Yes… it’s the article on the affiliate links.
Not only that, I published 2 trending articles and they also helped with the views. Fun Fact: It took less than a day for the 2 trending articles to exceed 100 views. Anyways, here are the results:

I will link some of my most-read articles down below as well:

My Followers Growth
Finally, I have to talk about my followers’ growth.

I only gained 80 followers in March, compared to 186 in February. This is because I stopped doing the Followers-for-Followers trick.
My intention for doing F4F was mainly to hit 100 followers so that I could join the partner program. Beyond that, I couldn’t care less whether I got 100 followers or 1,000 followers. What I want is organic growth now.
Hence, I will just focus on publishing my articles, and hopefully, people who are interested in reading them will follow me.
My Thoughts
While I am happy with earning $17 since it’s only my second month on Medium, I am still waiting for the day I hit the $100-per-month club. It’s an aspiration, one that I hope I can achieve soon, hopefully within the next 3 months. Sounds ambitious? But I like challenges…
Also, in my previous article where I revealed my February earnings, I pledged that I would write and publish one article a day on average. Well, a little ironic that I said I like challenges in the previous paragraph but… I failed. I only did 21 articles this month because I had been busy with university examinations and submissions. I will try my best to upload more for the month of April though.
