Happy Birthday Good Vibes Club

We’re One Year Old Today

Last New Years Day (2023), I posted a story about a new kid in town — Good Vibes Club. It was my new years dream about a new publication on Medium, to promote joy and positivity.

We had some writers sign up right away, and on January 8th we published our first 5 stories, from Pamela Oglesby, Dranéa, and Lu Skerdoo. The first story that came in was Pamela’s, a response to a This or That Challenge, quickly followed by Dranea’s and Lu’s.

Our first week we published 17 stories from 8 different writers.

We’ve grown through the year and now we average around 60 stories a week. Our biggest week was the week of September 24, 2023, when we had 81 stories submitted. (Those are the numbers submitted by other authors. I publish stories also through Good Vibes Club, but don’t include my own stories on the list I keep.)

We’re still a fairly small publication, and not up to the numbers of the ‘big kids on the block’, but that’s okay. We’re right where we need to be, in contact with those we need to be, and our community is like the Three Bears …. We’re just the right size.

Initially, in December 2022, when I was mulling over the idea, I had a completely different name in mind. I don’t even remember what I first wanted to call this new publication. (I’ve slept since then LOL) But one day in Walmart, I was walking down the aisle and saw this hat with GOOD VIBES CLUB on it.

That was it!

The new name of the publication.

Of course, I had to purchase the hat to seal the deal and bring it home so I could snap a picture of it and wear it proudly.

Just for fun — we can track stats in a publication too. I don’t check them. But when I opened my notebook to get the names of who submitted stories the first week, I saw a note from 1/14/23 where I’d written down some numbers.

This was midway through our first month. On that date, we had:

3,947 minutes of read time 5,178 views 103 average daily visitors.

I don’t think I’ve even looked at those stats since. But just for kicks, I went and looked at them right now for the month of December 2023.

According to Medium, the average daily visitors is:

The average number of unique daily visitors who have visited your publication. Each visitor is counted once per day, even if they view multiple pages or the same page multiple times.

On 12/31/23, for the month of December, we’re showing:

15,749 minutes of read time 16,658 views 301 average daily visitors (The high point of the month was December 17th when Good Vibes Club stories had 449 visitors that day.)

To celebrate our One Year Birthday, here are the 8 writers that submitted a story to us that first week, and the first story that they shared. A few of them submitted several stories, but I’m only sharing the first one that they shared with us.
