Guest Prompt Week 2, Day 1: Sujona Chatterjee

Prompt + short interview

Everything that’s created comes out of silence. Your thoughts emerge from the nothingness of silence. Your words come out of this void. Your very essence emerged from emptiness. All creativity requires some stillness. Wayne Dyer

Well hello, dearest lightworkers of the world!

Welcome to week 2 of our guest prompts. I feel like we are meeting our sovereign whole within through these topics our writers are choosing! Although I haven’t written anything in response to them yet, I’ve been pondering on their meaning quite a lot. I think I might follow in Lucy Dan’s footsteps and prepare a collection of reflections by the end of the month. 😀

Today’s guest is our kind and sweet Sujona Chatterjee, who’s been writing on KTHT since late April, this year. Curious what prompt she chose for us? I won’t make you wait any longer:

“We are not our thoughts.”

Tricky prompt, girl! Especially as we live in a world where we constantly identify ourselves with our thoughts, believing them all to be true.

I asked Sujona to give us the background story for this topic. Here’s what she said:

“As India is still in lockdown, people have been confined to their homes for a very long time. When I speak to my friends, they tell me how frustrated they are with the lack of movement and feeling like they’re prisoners in their own homes.

The frustrated mind leads to negative, vile and vicious thoughts. The thing is, people want to punish themselves for their thoughts, but we all have them. They don’t define who we are — it’s our actions that determine who we are.

We don’t have to drown in a pool of guilt every time we have a negative thought. Instead, we need to talk about it with someone we trust or write about it. These are, indeed, difficult times, but after every storm, sunshine follows. Our feelings and thoughts are temporary and they too shall pass. We just have to be willing to let them go.”

I 100% agree with you on this one, Sujona! What do y’all think? Ready to delve deep into this prompt? I know I am looking forward to reading everyone’s majestically crafted pieces of writing.

Also, stay tuned for the following guest prompts that will be released on Wednesday and Friday.
