Guest Prompt Week 1, Day 2: Riku Arikiri

Prompt + short interview

The practice of love offers no place of safety. We risk loss, hurt, pain. We risk being acted upon by forces outside our control. Bell Hooks

Hi! I come in peace. No helmets, armors or steel-toe boots for me — not when it comes to two of my favorite things in the world: writing and love in all its shapes and forms.

Today’s guest, Riku Arikiri (a.k.a one of the purest souls I’ve met on here), has been writing on Know Thyself for around 9 months and decided to join this challenge with a thought provoking prompt:

Do you willingly take risks, knowing you might fail regarding matters of love?

Of course I wanted to know how this idea was birthed and Riku was kind enough to explain:

For as long as I can remember, ever since I was a child, I have witnessed sacrifices my peers made for love. Whether it would be the courteousness of my grandparents or whether it’d be the love of my parents. My heart learnt to embrace ambiguity with a zestful embrace because of it. As I grew up, I learnt slowly but surely, about the risks that came when I sacrificed for love. Often times, I was guided by the Universe not to involve myself with certain people. It was an intuitive feeling telling me silently to back off.

But as fate would have it, I wanted to see it through the promises made and whether they would last. I have always listened to what my intuitive spirit has told me. It has always prepared me for the worst to come. Thus looking forward to reading your in vivid detail.

Well ladies and gents, this is your prompt for today (or for whenever you have time to tackle it). The third prompt for the week is released on Friday. Looking forward to everyone’s submissions!

Also, a big hug to Riku Arikiri! All my gratitude goes out to you.💛
