Grasping Is Not The Path.

The Buddha’s teachings are for helping us to relinquish, give up, let go and to cultivate a good understanding of right and wrong, good and evil etc. When we reflect on our actions of body, mind and speech we get to really know our mind and can identify when we are grasping after good or bad.

We are attached to so many things in so many ways but unless we can learn to ‘let go’ with wisdom, not through ignorance, we will never find liberation from suffering and the peace of mind which will bring us lasting joy.

  • It’s a good exercise to observe the workings of the mind. You can begin with noticing your reactions to certain objects, experiences you have and especially other people. Notice how we are firmly attached to our own opinions, views and judgements based within the misconception that we are a self and that things belong to us. Notice how quickly we fall into the trap of ‘mine’ and ‘yours’/ ‘theirs’ even when we feel we are equanimous

Attachment and grasping are a cause of our suffering. If we can begin to practice ‘letting go’ through becoming aware of our likes and dislikes and reframing our responses we will catch a glimpse of the peace which is certainly attainable.

May this teaching lead you to happiness; may it help you grow in truth. May you be freed from the suffering of birth and death.
