Hello Globetrotters!
How is everyone doing? Hope your week is going well!
First of all, want to give a shout-out to my fellow Floridians, as well as anyone else being impacted by hurricane Ian right now. I do hope everyone will be safe! Lucky enough I’m able to sit this one out, but I’ve been through plenty of these dang things, so I know just what it’s like unfortunately.
Wishing everyone the best!
Exciting Clues to Our Upcoming Challenge
A little teaser? Perhaps a gentle nudge… by Casper the friendly ghost! Please don’t get frightened. It’s all in good fun… ghoulish fun that is. Editors Jill and Anne are getting things ready for us, but until then enjoy this selection of stories from Globetrotters past.
- Michele Maize (The Sober Vegan Yogi): “The Gothic and Beautifully Creepy City of Edinburgh”
- Jacqueline Jannotta: “In Ireland I See Dead People”
- B.R. Shenoy: “Photo Essay: A Stroll through La Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentina”
- CatHERine: “The Most Unusual Cultural Celebration I Ever Experienced was at a Cemetery”
- Paul Gardner: “Romania’s Merry Cemetery Celebrates Life and Not Death”
This Week’s Featured Writer
Anne Bonfert
Want to give a great big thank you and shout-out to my fellow editor Anne. I do believe she’s one of the hardest working people on Medium. Not only does she write prolifically, but she edits for Globetrotters, helps us out with our monthly challenges and still has time to jump out of airplanes and do a whole lot of traveling, camping, exploring, etc. What an inspiration she is!
I can’t even count how many people I’ve heard from who credit Anne Bonfert with getting them interested in writing travel stories here on Medium — and I’m one of them! She has an enviable 129k followers. Wow!
Besides her “Globetrotters Writer Spotlight” story, here’s a sampling of some of her best binge-worthy stories on Globetrotters:
- “You are Packing Our Entire Household”
- “When Solo Traveling Almost Got Me Killed”
- “The Best Place I’ve Been — Mountains”
- “Living 24/7 for Two Weeks With a Total Stranger”
- “Japan is Where I’d Take My Partner To”
