QUEERLY TRANS
Friday Highlights in Queerly Trans (April 15, 2022)
Another week of amazing writings for our communities

In case you haven’t followed/subscribed to Queerly Trans yet, here are some recent writings that we’re excited to have gathered for you!

One of y’all always has to make me cry with a beautiful writing every week! This week, it was Kitty Whitemore that made this trans man wipe away the tears. Check out this beautiful response to my writing prompt about queer trans dreams:
“No need for a Transgender Day of Visibility because we would be seen. There will be no need for a Transgender Day of Remembrance because no one would kill out of hate or ignorance. No one would target transgender people. In my imagined future, hating transgender people would be akin to hating someone for being left-handed; ludicrous.”
Jymi Cliche took me through a full range of emotions from anger at that incredibly invalidating therapist to excitement for the forthcoming re-publication of The Godchild 1: My So-Called Delusions to admiration for so much beautiful artwork.
“As of yesterday, I just re-published my first book “The Godchild”, that I wrote in 2013 and self-published in 2020. It has a 4.7 star average rating and about twenty reviews from the original publication, but this new and improved version should be even better.”
Kai Arden asks the questions that so many of us have asked ourselves before in this deeply relatable piece. Whether you are inside or outside of the closet, this writing will give you some valuable food for thought.
“Every queer person knows that your identity is the gift that keeps giving: you have to keep coming out over and over again, whether you want to or not. Sometimes it is awkward, blurting out that you’re a lesbian on your third day at college to the girl down the hall and feeling relieved when she says she’s bisexual.”
Another entertaining piece by the same writer explores agender and non-binary fashion and hair. Whatever your gender, you will likely see yourself in some part of this journey towards self knowledge.
“My mother disliked anything that made me look “too masculine,” which was everything from my jeans to my gender-neutral marching band uniform. It was … fine isn’t the right word, because it wasn’t. But it was manageable. I wore the skirts she bought me because everyone said I was a girl and that’s what girls wore.”
Have you ever played the game of trying to find the subtle or not so subtle clues of queer transness that may have been present throughout your life? Alistair J. Kraft has some very interesting stories to share with you from playing this game! Hindsight truly is 20/20.
“This is a fun game. The ‘wow, how was anyone actually surprised when I finally came out’ game. The ‘look how many early tells there were’ game. Near as I can tell, it also applies universally across the many flavors of queerness. A rare universal queer experience of the positive variety!”
Last but not least, Nova Grace offers this lighthearted piece that is guaranteed to leave you with a smile. This writing shows the value of community, friendship, and courage. It also has some valuable wisdom and experience to share.
“Vulnerability is key, and it takes an awful lot of courage to be vulnerable. Peeling away layers of emotional varnish and letting someone in on your transformation is probably the bravest thing one can do. But I learned that doing so with someone open and caring establishes a sacred space from which to build wonderful friendships.”
