Here’s How I Fixed Allergies and Autoimmune Conditions with Elimination Diet.

My personal experience with eliminating offensive food from my diet improving my physical and mental health

For many years I suffered from food intolerance, allergies, and autoimmune conditions. The older I got, the more intense the symptoms became.

My solution was a systemic elimination diet, removing the culprit. Elimination of offending food helped me transform my life.

Living with food intolerance and allergies is not fun. Disturbances in my stomach and the overall digestive system turned out to be unbearable.

I tried many medications, including antihistamines and anti-acid relaxers. They helped a bit to hide the symptoms, but they did not address the root causes.

As I got older, my symptoms got worse. And worst of all, I gained an autoimmune condition. My rheumatologists confirmed the beginning of arthritis. In a few years, arthritis increased and covered a larger area in my lower back and joints.

My body inflamed substantially. It turned to chronic inflammation. A combination of digestive issues, inflammation, and arthritic pain drained my energy. I lost the joy in life.

Most of the time, I operated in survival mode. I was still young, and my brain was very active.

Unfortunately, my brain also started suffering too. I experienced brain fog.

It was time for me to go to the root causes of my condition. Just addressing the symptoms did not serve my life’s purpose.

I started searching the medical literature and alternative therapies. One day, I came across the concept of elimination day. I read hundreds of articles about it.

The exciting thing, I was not alone. Thousands of people like me were suffering from food intolerance, allergies, inflammation, and brain fog.

I read their anecdotes and was impressed by their testimonies on the effectiveness of the elimination diet.

As far as I know, my diet was perfect. Initially, I was vegetarian and even fruitarian for a short while. Based on my nutritionist’s recommendation, I switched to the Mediterranean diet because she highly recommended I eat foods containing vitamin B12.

Advice from the nutritionist was convincing. I loved the Mediterranean diet with lots of vegetables and little meat. Olive oil was my favorite fat. I used to drink a few spoonfuls of olive oil to get into ketosis.

Being on the Mediterranean diet worked for a while. Ketosis helped me reduce the inflammation a bit. Some symptoms disappeared.

However, I was not a hundred percent of my feelings. Something was still wrong.

In hindsight, my issue was eating lots of vegetables. I used to eat five servings of vegetables. I loved kale, broccoli, parsley, celery, and spinach.

I included almost all green vegetables and tried multiple color vegetables too. Besides, they are low caloric, and I thought would be ideal for my weight management. But I was not losing fat.

I thought plants were essential and safe.

How could I have known that my problems were related to plants?

Reading testimonies of people who suffered from similar conditions inspired me to try the elimination diet.

I started my elimination diet by reducing each vegetable one by one.

Gradually, I cut 90% of the vegetables from my diet. I thought my microbiome would die if I didn’t eat vegetables. It was my unchallenged assumption gained from myriads of nutrition books. I had to unlearn many things to transform myself.

Finally, I took the plunge and cut all plants, including my favorite nuts, for two weeks. I only ate animal products.

I felt a huge relief.

This relief encouraged me to try it for another two weeks. After a month, I experienced a dramatic improvement in my digestive health.

But my body was still producing some inflammation, and I still had arthritis.

The problem was eating eggs and dairy.

After several months I wanted to cut my beloved eggs, milk, yogurt, cheese, and even butter from my diet. There was something magical about the elimination diet.

Without eating vegetables and nuts, cutting eggs and dairy should have been a big problem if I didn't die for months.

I was right. The logic worked.

As soon as I eliminated eggs and dairy, I experienced tremendous improvement. All my symptoms disappeared.

Then, I wanted to try vegetables again to see how they would work.

Guess what!

My favorite spinach and celery brought back all the symptoms rapidly.

After a few trials, it became crystal clear. My body did not tolerate even the little toxins in vegetables. I heard that some people could tolerate a hundred times more than my body could. We are all different. I accepted what my body needed. In my opinion, my body has more intelligence than my brain.

This self-explored knowledge became precious to my life; therefore, I wrote hundreds of articles about my transformation. I never recommend anyone any type of diet as we are all unique but sharing my experience may provide perspectives to my readers.

After eliminating foods that my body perceived as toxins, I started reliving my youth. Since I adopted a keto-carnivore lifestyle, my conditions healed, and irritating symptoms disappeared.

I owe my successful transformation to an elimination diet to get to the root causes of my problems. I believe a customized diet can be invaluable.

Another health improvement for my allergies and food intolerances was to skip breakfast. I shared my two decades of experience in the attached story.
