Falling From Grace

A 100-word story with a 3 min reading time

Grace by Pexels

After falling asleep in Tasmania, she woke up in Iceland with an echidna on her head.

It’s the weirdest thing that ever happened to me in October, she thought.

“This should be weirder. No?” The voice came from the scar on her left foot, where the Elvis-looking alien had bitten her in Graceland.

“What about this, then?” This time, the scar left by the fall of a mug on her right foot was talking.

And I hear voices!!! It must be the tricker treat Anna Niedziela gave me.

The WITCH!

She wants to steal my Smillew.

I’ll slay her.

The prompt was:

a 100-word story about october. tricker treat. fall. falling from grace. graceland. . . iceland.

I added the constraint to use all the words but had to cheat in the end, as you can understand from the title.

Anyway, the most important to me was to plug my name and link it to my ko-fi account because I read that if you leave your name in enough places on the internet, someone, somewhere, at some point, will click and give you $999 / month.

Or even more!!

If you don’t believe me, I recommend you leave my name and my ko-fi link at the bottom of all your emails for the next four weeks, and we’ll see what happens.

Since we are here, I’d like to answer a few more prompts

TaxiDriver and DopplerEffect recently challenged me to write some 20-word stories. I’m not sure why everybody is so anal about the word counts these days, but whatever. (If you have a reply to this, please make it exactly 73 words, or else I won’t read it.)

Here are my five twenty-word stories:

  1. Unsurprisingly, Mike TheClown had used the prompt to write about anal discharge. He’s so gross, always talking about hemorrhoids and Tuck pads.
  2. This ‘story’ didn’t have twenty words, Gribsmy Hanckey, his nemesis, replied in the comments. So what, Twat? I make the rules here.
  3. “That’s DISGUSTING,” she yelled as he ate her tapeworm directly from the source. “No waste, honey. I’m saving the planet.”
  4. “See! You can write twenty when you make an effort, Twat.” Gribsmy Hanckey, his nemesis, always wanted the last word.
  5. “Sure I can, Twat. When I want.”
  6. Oopsie Grimsby! Did I write only 7 words in the previous ‘story?’ WHO would do that?! The point of these word constraints is to sparkle creativity while teaching you to respect THE RULES.
  7. “Stop right there,” his readers prayed. “You said five stories, and you wrote seven. That’s enough.”

Fun fact: if you group the stories together, there are exactly 140 words (7 x 20 for those in the back). HA! Who’s anal now?

Finally, link to stories mentioned in this article.
