Exploring the Fairytale Village in Late Fall
Walking through this quaint little town on a gray November day
I might be sharing lately lots of photographs of fallen leaves, views across the valley covered in fog, and trees standing tall in the season. But I’m just in awe of the beauty all around me and like to share the joy.
It was surely not a day to collect some vitamin D. The sun wasn’t to be seen all day long but I still decided to get my body into the fresh air outside and walk around the town.
I didn’t get far when I stopped at my neighbor’s front yard admiring these three different types of Japanese maple trees. They are tiny. The one is barely twenty centimeters tall. But all of them are pretty with their bright red leaves.

Entering the forest and walking down the trail on the edge of town I walked by this swing. It’s just a tire hanging from a branch in the forest. But I’ve often seen children play with it during the summer.

It had rained most of the morning, so everything was rather wet. Raindrops on the leaves were making the trail slippery.

I tried to filter out the bright colors of the trees in front of the very white sky.

A bench covered in fallen leaves made me go down on my knees and click the shutter button.

A bit further down I saw beautiful patterns. These are just fallen leaves on a wet path. But somehow it is more. It is more to me. It’s nature’s art.

This village doesn’t have any river running by but it is blessed with several springs. These springs have been turned into wells offering people to fill their water canisters and watering cans on several points in town.

These bushes of withered rose flowers attracted my attention on a gray day.

The ivy on the wall is only half of what it was once. But the different colored leaves still attracted my photographic eye.

In the middle of our 800-people village, I looked down and saw this tiny alleyway. I’ve never seen it before and of course, decided to walk that way.

Old brick walls on the right and some boxes filled with the latest apple harvest on my right. I’m in the countryside. This is for sure.

And there’s another bicycle.

Beautifully decorated flower pots were to be found behind every corner.

The walls surrounding this well made it look like an old and abandoned site. But those freshly decorated flower pots and blooming beauties are showing the town does care about this place.

More brick walls in narrow alleys and broken-down ruins.

I reached the end of town.

Turning back into town I stumbled on the only Halloween decorations I found in this very Christian village. I’m not a fan of scary decorations and I’m very happy about Germany and its unobtrusive approach to Halloween. It’s just not a thing over here.
But these pumpkins look nice. I don’t mind them.

I’m back up on the other side of the hill and almost finished with my walk. It was a different one this time. Instead of just crossing the village to get into the forest I decided to explore this quaint village a bit more. And I was surprised about all the things I found.

This is home.
