Every Divorcing or Newly Divorced Woman Needs to Wear This One Thing

When the wedding ring comes off, it’s time to put this on.

Even when I knew it was over, really over, the tears still found a way to stream down my face — for days, weeks, and months.

Sometimes at the most unexpected times too.

Ugh. Like that time when I sat outside on the sidewalk at a cute French coffee shop and desperately wanted to enjoy a perfect cappuccino without thinking about my ex.

And there I was…

Moi, sitting at a table on a busy street outside of Paris, holding a pretty pale yellow coffee cup with a two-handed death grip in front of my face, while tears steadily fell like Niagara falls.

I couldn’t even make it through a petit cup of caffeine without thinking about him — actually it was really less about thinking about him and more about the relationship fantasy I had concocted in my head.

And that’s the moment I said F*ck it. I’m going to Sephora.

There’s no quick way to fast-track the healing of a broken heart or coping with divorce, but wearing this one thing will help.

It’s red lipstick.

Divorce Red Lipstick. That’s what I call bright red lipstick now.

Sure, wearing a pair of sexy panties or a barely-there thong are good measures, too, but there is nothing quite like gliding the brightest, silkiest, and sexiest red lipstick over your lips.

Or seeing red lipstick stained on your cappuccino cup.

Preferably in Paris, of course.

Oh, thanks to spending a lot of time shopping for perfect divorce red lipstick, I now know that it’s also possible to find no transfer, smudge-proof and stain-free red lipstick — the beauty of this lipstick is that you keep the lipstick on your lips, instead of leaving it on your coffee cup.

There is undeniable strength and power in wearing red lipstick.

Until my separation and divorce, I had zero awareness of the sticking power of red lipstick.

I actually didn’t particularly like red lipstick on me — and I wasn’t a huge fan of it on others.

But my view is totally changed now.

I’ve come to see that red lipstick is universally accepted, and for divorcing or divorced women, lipstick can give a mega boost in confidence. Yay, there is at least one redeeming thing in a divorce.

Wearing red lipstick may seem like a cliche, but it’s powerful strength packed in a tube.

With red lipstick on your lips, I swear it’s possible to instantly feel like you’re transformed into a superhero.

At the very least, red lipstick can instantly transform the way you carry yourself, self-confidence, the attention you attract, the way you walk or enter a room, and the way you approach others.

Red radiates confidence and energy.

Research also suggests that red lipstick can make women appear younger, seem more likeable, and also… drumroll…boost sex appeal (yeah, no big surprise there, right?).

But to me, divorce red also says this…

Don’t f*ck with me. I’m a bada$s woman who knows her worth. I know what love is and what it isn’t — or at least I’m learning the love lessons.

Divorce isn’t breaking me — it didn’t break me, and it won’t break me. Becoming a divorced woman isn’t the end of my story — it’s the beginning of my new chapter.

Divorce doesn’t mean I’ve failed. It means I’ve lived, loved, experienced marriage, grew, learned, fell down, got back up, tried, tried again, learned to love myself more, and grew again. Growth. That’s the point of life, isn’t it. I’d call that a f*cking success.

So, about that divorce red lipstick…

What divorce red lipstick represents is exactly why every divorcing or divorced woman needs to grab a tube to call her own, put it on, smack her lips together, love her perfect pout — and boldly step forward into her new chapter with confidence.

The next time you see a woman wearing bright red lipstick, please let her know it looks good on her.

So good.

And if she’s divorcing, please remind her that brighter shades are coming — and until they do, remind her to keep the red.

Thanks for reading about my lipstick.

We’re all dealing with something in any given moment.

Thank you for taking the time to lift up others — even if it involves lipstick.
