About Me

Erica Marie’s ABCs

Writing challenge accepted!

Photo of Author on her 30th birthday, when she still had all the energy in the world…

Amused by puns and my husband’s Dad jokes. My fondest memories of our relationship are the times we cry with laughter. This is why our chemistry is so strong, but my jokes usually get no reaction.

Born in the ’90s, I still remember the days of box-sized televisions, dial-up internet, Blockbuster rentals, and Floppy disks. If my iPhone stops running, maybe I’ll just Walkman.

Crave sushi and bubble tea on a weekly basis. After two kids, I’m still struggling to lose the extra 30 pounds. I guess you could say I have weighs to go!

Directions are my weakness. Even with Google Maps, I still manage to miss my turns. So I steer clear of driving because wheel never get to our destination.

Early riser — I’ve always been a morning person. I love the sun and the promise of a new day. Waking up to a fresh cup of coffee is part of my daily grind.

Funny? Not so much. Good luck getting to ‘Z.’

Gratitude is a powerful practice I started over five years ago. It has helped me put life into perspective and allows me to focus on the positive. Some may find it cheesy, but it is a grate way to start your day.

Home is my favourite place to connect with the family, but more importantly, it is where the Wi-Fi connects automatically.

I dream about one day sleeping in until 11 am, eating my meals uninterrupted, and going to the bathroom by myself. But as a mom, I know how fast time flies, so I try to cherish the mom-ment and our mum-dane routines.

Juggling work as a stay-at-home mom can be difficult. I’ve dropped the ball on too many occasions.

Kindness is a trait I appreciate most in people. It is what I’m hoping you’ll show me after putting up with all my cheesy puns.

Learning has always been my passion to which I attribute my personal growth, but I’m still only 5 foot 1.

Mexico is where my husband and I had our wedding ceremony and celebrated our first year anniversary. It was a spec-taco-lar day!

Next on my bucket list is to take the boys to Disneyland with their cousins. With all the kids in tow, I’m surely going to need a Minnie Van.

Opening up on paper has always been natural to me and has helped me build the confidence to open myself to others. It has also helped me get all my sheet out.

Puns are not my strong suit, I’m sure you can tell by now. I’m truly sorry for pun-ishing you.

Q is the initial of my last name. I want to say it stands for Queen, but it’s a hard name to pronounce, so I usually just rule it out.

Rest is often something I feel guilty about doing. I could go seven days without sleep and never be tired. It’s because I only sleep at night.

Since 2012, I stopped eating meat and became a pescatarian. Many thought it was a big missed steak, but it’s been one of the best decisions of my life.

Thinking about money and budgeting is a fun activity for me. The most expensive place I’ve been to recently was at a gas station.

Unwinding with an episode of Shark Tank has been my recent obsession. I admire everyone’s ideas and life stories. My husband has always wanted to open an Indian restaurant, but with no expertise in that cuisine, I told him it was Naan-sense.

Virgos are perfectionists, practical, and loyal — all traits I resonate with. However, my husband can’t stand the indecisive quality of a Virgo, and it almost Taurus apart.

Water is my least favourite drink. I’ve done all the tricks to try and motivate myself to drink more. I even tried a water bottle game called follow the litre.

Xmas is my favourite time of the year. As much as I dislike the cold temperatures of Canada, there’s snow place like home for the holidays.

Younger me would be very proud of where I am in life today, and if I could give her one piece of advice, it would be to relax and trust that everything will be okay. My past self was always so tense.

ZINGGGGG — that’s the end! If you made it through the alphabet, thank you for getting to know me. Now it’s your turn, pick a letter and tell me a little something about you!
