Editorial Op-Ed: We Honor People Demonstrating Great Effort
Because having a motivational ethos leads to monumental achievements

Every publication wants super top writers to stay for long and write for them.
That is a result of what we do, and that said, it does not drive us to do what we do. We publish work from our contributors because we honor great effort and sacrifice.
The great effort comes from commitment, grit, and determination. These attributes are the gold we see in our contributors.
Therefore, we do our best to turn around as fast as possible for ILLUMINATION and its sister publications.
Because we honor great effort.
Monumental achievements come after great effort and sacrifice.
Editors in ILLUMINATION understand that. Our personal life stories demonstrate that as well.
“For the following thirteen years I went from one dead end job to another, busting my guts for very little in return. Then at the age of twenty eight, tired of my life going nowhere fast I decided to do something about it. For three years, after a hard day’s work, I went to evening classes to study English language and literature, just to get enough qualifications to go to university. Finally, in 1981 I went to do a degree and recover my long-lost education. It was the best thing I had ever done.”
The best thing ever done is a hindsight description. You can read that from Liam Ireland’s story when he decided to throw down the gauntlet and take the bulls by the horns.
Do not allow life to kick you around.
Be a King of your own fate and a Knight of your life adventures.

When I say monumental achievements come after great effort and sacrifice, I mean that the mountain of gold sits behind the fearful dragon.
We see that all over Lord of The Rings. It is clearly evident in King Theoden’s speech as he rallies the Riders of Rohan preceding their charge into the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
“Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
spear shall be shaken, shield shall be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the world’s ending!
Death! Death! Death!
Forth Eorlingas!”
Confronting our fears is the necessary first step towards committing great effort. As contributors, we constantly battle our inner demons telling us that our stories will not be read by many. Forget that. Rally your soul from within and charge ahead.
You never know what you will find. Achievement awaits.
On a separate note — You may find it difficult to promote your work because of fear. Maybe, you want to play it safe.
Tree Langdon the Ent, Grandmother of all Oak trees residing in the Forest of Fangorn, has this to say about our deepest fear: -
“Even if you’ve been writing for a while, there may still be a part of you that wants to stay safe. You don’t want to get too big, too quickly.
So many of us are afraid to be revealed.
We’ve been keeping our thoughts and ideas to ourselves for so long we aren’t sure how to bring them to an audience.
We are worried our words aren’t worth reading.
We don’t know how they will be received.
We’re afraid no one will be interested in what we have to say.
We might have posted something in the past and someone reacted badly.
So we hide, stay small, and don’t reveal ourselves.”
Stop hiding. Show up, come out to battle and promote yourself. Trees can take down the White Wizard of Isengard.
Yes, it is unimaginable for trees to do that.
But that should not stop us from trying.

At ILLUMINATION, we believe that people with great effort will achieve great heights.
The goals are your choice, and if you choose to wrestle with the bull of life through writing, we will be with you.
We honor great effort. (And that is why we do not condone plagiarism)
We do not just talk about it. We show it through our work ethic (via active publication of your work) and writing almost daily ourselves.
