Do You Hate The One Who Wins Everything?
It is highly likely

Emotions are likely to be in play. As humans, we want to win. At base, we don’t want to lose. The competitive aura is within all of us. We want to stand on top and be victorious.
And I think that is normal. I want to win, my business partners want to win too. Winning more prospects through well-executed client acquisition strategies brings a lot of satisfaction.
Watching the topline and bottom-line climb as a result of that is to bring immense satisfaction too.
If this trajectory continues long enough, enemies will start appearing. Maybe addressing them as “enemies” is a stretch, but hey, the business landscape can be like war. Sometimes.
Business is a competitive sport. We compete for new customers, retaining new customers all the time. With the internet, it is 24/7/365.
Why do winners want to keep winning in business? I am sure vanity is one factor but not high up the list. Survival could be another one. It could be just a hardworking ethic in action.
My mind takes me to my observations of start-ups. Somehow I think the answer could be found there.
My View On Start-Ups
Many start-ups began with an idea. A group of like-minded individuals comes together to try and take their ideas into the business world. When they start, it is an almost-failure guarantee from the beginning.
Then they work mercilessly round the clock to prove they have what it takes, in terms of product/service offering, and tenacity. With business acumen too.
They will try what they can to get people to use their products for free if they have to. The Chief Executive Officer goes pitching from one venture capital to another.
As they grow, they appreciate their hard-earned success. How long does it take to earn their first paying customer? Probably after 100 non-paying customers.
How long does it take for them to secure the first seed funding from a venture capitalist? Possibly, after 1,000 pitches.
They might have participated in hundreds of competitions in order to showcase their products and make their names known just to get a shot for success.
When they arrive at the first point of success, they do not let up. Their mentality would be to continue winning because they know it’s tough. They have come a long way.

It is Day 1, every single day.
When we have such a mindset, the gears to continue attempting to win today is set in motion. No, they are not interested to make others lose. They are interested to win. There is a difference.
And when we look at them, quite naturally we will be upset and angry that we are up against fierce competition who is always ready to fight for market share.
But hey. We can fight for our market share too.
We have it in us. We can always give the current winners a good run for their money. We can always compete. We compete not to win over them but to win against ourselves.
And prove that we can continue to reinvent ourselves and bring our A-Game to work and life every, single, day.
The Way I See Those Try To Win Daily.
I have no doubts that we are our own winners.
The way for us to have a shot at winning — where it is about hitting our targets and beyond — is to work hard and be pretty relentless towards achieving our goals.
Starts-ups do this very well. This is something we can learn from them. We can see this in Amazon and in Jeff Bezos’s letters to Shareholders. It is about the Day 1 mentality, every day.
And I believe in this.
We should not waste time hating winners. Instead, we should invest time to be our own winners.
Cheers To Be Our Own Winners,
Aldric
