Daily Success Stories from ILLUMINATION
Do You Crave for Comments?
1271 ILLUMINATION writers are supporting 11000+ Medium members

Strong people don’t put others down. They lift them up.”— Michael P. Watson
In my last few bulletins, I shared reader feedback on the importance of surprise factor, the significance of originality and authenticity, and freshness of content. These terms established a noticeable pattern in reader surveys.
Today, I want to touch on the importance of comments for both writers and readers. From my experience, every writer desire comments on their stories. Receiving feedback on stories is a critical motivating factor for writers.
When I asked some of our writers what the key expectation from their readers was, most of them pointed out that they expected comments from their readers. Comments on their stories are highly desirable by writers.
Besides, readers also enjoy stories with comments as the comments might extend the story content to different dimensions and might add new perspectives to the intended message. The shared content with more comments can attract more readers in any platform.
Leaving thoughtful and supportive comments on stories can make the writers happy and can deepen the relationship between writers and readers. Therefore, as part of our publication culture on ILLUMINATION, we encourage our writers and readers to engage in stories, especially by leaving a brief and supportive comment on the stories they read.
On Medium, most of us are both writers and readers at the same time. When we are wearing the hat of a reader, we can encourage our writers with our supportive comments. Due to the law of reciprocity and serendipity, when we wear our writer hat, we are most likely can experience the desired outcome. Based on my experience in multiple contents and social media platforms, I am a true believer that the more we give, the more we receive.
