Disney Is Working With Epic Games on an “Entertainment Universe” In Fortnite
They’re putting a whopping $1.5 billion into this project that looks like a metaverse.

So, in my past chats, I’ve talked about all sorts of stuff related to the metaverse and Fortnite. You can find those links below. But right now, let’s dive into this cool new collab between Disney and Epic Games. They’re teaming up to create this whole “entertainment universe” inside Fortnite.
Disney just dropped a bombshell announcement: they’re throwing a whopping $1.5 billion into Epic Games to team up and cook up something mind-blowing in Fortnite.
The big cheese over at Disney, Robert A Iger, couldn’t contain his excitement:
“Our exciting new relationship with Epic Games will bring together Disney’s beloved brands and franchises with the hugely popular Fortnite in a transformational new games and entertainment universe.”
“This marks Disney’s biggest entry ever into the world of games and offers significant opportunities for growth and expansion. We can’t wait for fans to experience the Disney stories and worlds they love in groundbreaking new ways.”
Now, they’re not exactly shouting “metaverse” from the rooftops, but it’s pretty clear that’s the vibe they’re going for. Disney spilled the beans that, along with games, this new universe will be a place where you can play, watch, shop, and dive deep into content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, and more.
Even Tim Sweeney, the big boss at Epic known for his metaverse hype, managed to keep his lips sealed on the matter.
“Disney was one of the first companies to believe in the potential of bringing their worlds together with ours in Fortnite, and they use Unreal Engine across their portfolio.”
“Now we’re collaborating on something entirely new to build a persistent, open and interoperable ecosystem that will bring together the Disney and Fortnite communities.”
This isn’t their first rodeo together, though. Marvel heroes have been strutting their stuff in Fortnite for a while now, and remember that epic Fortnite scene in Avengers: Endgame? Yep, that was all thanks to this partnership.
And behind the curtain, Disney’s been using Epic’s Unreal Engine to cook up games based on their properties and even as a tool for their film and streaming projects.
But this time, it’s on a whole new level. Disney’s calling this a “multiyear project,” which means they’re gearing up to flood Fortnite with all things Disney.
While we’re still in the dark about the details, it’s like they’re saying, “Welcome to the Disney show, 24/7, inside Fortnite.” They’re even letting players create their adventures, Disney-style, and share them with the world.
Final Words
As for the specifics of Disney’s investment in Epic, well, that’s still under wraps. Epic Games isn’t spilling the beans either. But hey, fingers crossed we get some extra info real soon!
