DEP February 2023 Writer of the Month — Jennifer Dunne

Congratulations, celebrations!

I am so excited to be the one to pick our February Writer of the Month!

Congratulations, Jennifer!

Jennifer is a fabulous, versatile, and consistent writer on Medium and elsewhere. She covers a range of topics including cats, writing, self-improvement, productivity, relationships…and much more.

Today let’s get to know Jennifer better and then, watch her lovely interview with Gabi — the link is at the end of this post.

Jennifer Dunne is no stranger to dreaming big and taking positive action. She’s getting a Ph.D. in Metaphysical Sciences, focusing on pendulum healing, and recently moved (with her husband and two cats) to the Caribbean island of Nevis. It was quite the challenge to cull her thousands of books down to less than a hundred that absolutely had to make the trip with her.

A published author of award-winning fantasy, science fiction, and romance novels, she is also the author of ROAR: Overcome Obstacles in 3 Simple Steps. She was one of the 21 authors in DEP’s first book, Holistic Journey Toward Wellness, and is participating in their yearlong online book. Her daily column at The Daily Cuppa features her unique way of looking at the world. If she can’t find inspiration or humor in her situation, it’s not worth writing about.

She’s an avid board gamer, cat lover, and reader. Her goal is to inspire hope and empower people to make their lives — and the world — better.

Did you know

…that Jennifer wrote her first book when she was — wait for it — FOUR YEARS OLD? It had an elephant in it 🐘

…that Jennifer endured 6 years of rejection before she sold her first novel? It prompted her to develop the ROAR process for overcoming obstacles and put herself out there in the face of constant rejection. She went on to have 14 books published, and was included in the CBS Sunday Morning feature on the romance industry. She also used the ROAR process to successfully overcome the obstacles of various health challenges — diagnoses of cancer and type II diabetes. Talk about practicing what she preaches!

She is now a professional speaker, author, and coach, inspiring audiences to live their optimal lives by overcoming their own obstacles, especially in the areas of sales, health, and procrastination.

Impressive, isn’t it when you can take your eyes away from Jennifer’s lovely smile?

I have been following Jennifer right since when I joined Medium in June 2021, when I began to write for The Daily Cuppa (short form fascinates me!). Jennifer writes a lovely daily column there.

I have also read her long-form articles and enjoyed them very much! Here are some links to her work that kind of wrap up her Medium writing career in a nutshell. (I’d suggest bookmarking this post — because I know you’ll want to read Jennifer’s words).

Her very first short form article for The Daily Cuppa. According to her, it wasn’t very good but I disagree. I admire the fact that she’s written one every day ever since, except for when she took a short break to single-handedly ready her house to sell. Superwoman is the word that comes to mind.

Here is a story about her first viral article.

This one is about her top six viral articles, including her first one which continued to get thousands of views after she wrote about it. (She’s a legend, eh?)

I loved this one — guilt and shame are two things we all struggle with.

Now for a short form humorous piece about being unable to prove she was born from The Daily Cuppa.
