Deep Dish Breakfast Pizza
My aunt’s recipe

I wasn’t hungry, skipped breakfast, and tried to figure out my first meal of the day around noon. My aunt’s hot-dish staple for holiday brunches, deep dish breakfast pizza, was the clear answer.
Crust:
- 4 cups flour
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 6 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups milk
Mix dry ingredients. Cut in butter. Stir in milk. Knead on floured surface and press into greased jelly roll pan. Bake 10 minutes at 425.
Topping:
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 Tbsp chopped onion
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese
- 1 package brown and serve sausage
Mix all ingredients except sausage. Spread over crust. Thinly slice sausage and arrange on top. Bake 25 minutes at 425. Let stand 5 minutes.
Serves 12. Freezes well.
