Electric Vehicles
Check Out Mercedes’ Next EV
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS looks to be a promising addition to Mersedes’ EV lineup.

In the past, I have written several stories related to EVs (Electric Vehicles). These will be linked at the end of this post. In this post, I’ll be going over Mersedes' newest EV called the Mercedes-Maybach EQS.
What is an EV?
An electric vehicle, or EV, is a type of vehicle that runs on electricity instead of gasoline or diesel fuel. EVs use a rechargeable battery to store energy that powers an electric motor, which then turns the wheels.
Compared to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles, EVs produce less air pollution and have lower greenhouse gas emissions, making them a more environmentally friendly transportation option.
There are several different types of EVs, including all-electric vehicles (also known as battery-electric vehicles or BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).
All-electric vehicles run entirely on electricity and have no internal combustion engine. In contrast,plug-in hybrid electric vehicles have both an electric motor and an internal combustion engine that can be used in tandem.
Hybrid electric vehicles, on the other hand, use both an electric motor and an internal combustion engine, but the electric motor is generally used to assist the gas engine rather than to power the vehicle on its own.
The benefits of EVs are numerous. They produce zero tailpipe emissions, meaning they don’t release harmful pollutants into the air that can harm human health and contribute to climate change.
They also have lower lifetime operating costs than gasoline-powered vehicles, as electricity is generally cheaper than gasoline or diesel fuel. In addition, electric vehicles are often quieter and smoother to drive than traditional vehicles, providing a more comfortable and relaxing driving experience.
There are some drawbacks to EVs, however. One of the biggest concerns is range anxiety — the fear that the vehicle’s battery will run out of charge before reaching its destination.
While the range of electric vehicles has been steadily increasing in recent years, many drivers still worry about running out of juice before reaching a charging station.
In addition, the upfront cost of purchasing an electric vehicle can be higher than a comparable gasoline-powered vehicle, although this gap is narrowing as battery technology improves and production costs decrease.
Despite these challenges, the market for EVs is growing rapidly. In 2020, global sales of electric vehicles reached a record high, with over 3 million units sold.
This trend is expected to continue as more automakers introduce new electric models and as governments around the world implement policies to encourage the adoption of EVs.
Electric vehicles represent a promising technology for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, and creating a more sustainable transportation system.
While there are still some hurdles to overcome, the benefits of electric vehicles are clear, and it seems likely that they will play an increasingly important role in the future of transportation.
About the Mercedes-Maybach EQS
The latest offering from Mercedes-Maybach is a super-luxurious version of the Mercedes EQS SUV that is set to take the EV market by storm. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is a first-class vehicle that elevates what is already a special SUV into something that is more private jet than a car.
The car was launched at the Shanghai Auto Show, and I had an exclusive chance to view the vehicle ahead of its launch. In this article, I will give you a detailed overview of this amazing car, including its technical specifications, exterior and interior design features, and overall driving experience.
Let’s start with the technical side of things. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is an EQS 680 SUV that features two electric motors that deliver 950Nm of torque and a 0–62mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds.
Considering that this car probably weighs close to 3 tons, these specs are impressive. Although the range figures are yet to be confirmed, Mercedes-Maybach estimates that the car can travel up to 600km (372 miles) on a single charge.
When it comes to the exterior design, there are several changes that immediately distinguish the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV from the standard Mercedes version.
Firstly, the car has a two-tone paint finish that combines obsidian black with either silver, blue, grey, gold, or brown, giving it a distinct Maybach look. Secondly, the car’s grille follows the Maybach style, featuring vertical chrome strips. However, the grille is actually a flat panel that incorporates hidden radar sensors into the design.
The Maybach logo is formed into a pattern in the front trim, and one version of the car also has the logo pattern as part of the alloy wheel design, which looks really impressive. The Maybach logo is also incorporated into the chrome running boards along the side of the car.
Inside the car, you’ll find a custom version of the MBUX Hyperscreen for the driver and front passenger, with a unique start-up display, a deep blue visual appearance to the displays, and a special instrument cluster in ‘Maybach mode’.
All of the soft furnishings are finished in exclusive Nappa leather, available in warm colors such as espresso brown, macchiato beige, and crystal white. This leather is vegetable tanned using a more sustainable process, and it is paired with natural wood trims and black lacquer. All four seats have comfortable pillows on the headrests.
The true luxury of this car is found in the rear passenger seats. Here you get two 11.6-inch displays with all the MBUX entertainment options and a central tablet display on the armrest.
The executive seats offer ventilation and massage functions, while the rear left passenger seat will recline right back, automatically adjusting the front passenger seat forward to allow you to stretch out.
It also has optional thermal cup holders in the rear to hold the silver-plated champagne flutes safely in position, and a removable fridge in the boot that can be accessed through the central armrest.
The sound system is the finest Burmester 4D system with Dolby Atmos sound and includes 15 speakers throughout the car. To ensure a silent space, there’s a special fixed luggage compartment cover that seals the cabin from any road noise that might come from the boot.
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is an incredible vehicle that elevates what is already a special electric SUV into a true limousine. There’s no confirmed price for the car as yet, but it is expected to be over £200k.
This car is not for everyone, but for those who can afford it, it is a truly luxurious and unique vehicle that offers a driving experience unlike any other.
