Bentley’s first EV is a miniature 1920s racer. Who saw that coming?

What is Bentley?

Think of Bentley as the Rolls-Royce’s cooler cousin. It’s a British automotive brand that’s been around for ages, crafting some of the most jaw-dropping, heart-racing, and drool-worthy cars you’ve ever laid your eyes on. Established way back in 1919, Bentley has a rich history that oozes luxury and craftsmanship.

What sets Bentley apart from the crowd is its meticulous attention to detail. Every car is a work of art, a masterpiece sculpted by skilled hands and advanced technology. The interior of a Bentley is like stepping into a palace on wheels.

It’s not just about the leather seats (though they are incredibly soft and comfy); it’s about the wood veneers, the hand-stitched finishes, and the personalized touches that make you feel like royalty.

But it’s not all about looking pretty. Bentley is no slouch in the performance department either. These bad boys can go from 0 to 60 mph in the blink of an eye, thanks to the powerful engines growling under their hoods. They’re built for speed, yet they glide on the road with an elegance that’s almost poetic.

And let’s not forget about the Bentley Bentayga — the SUV that redefines the concept of luxury off-roading. It’s like driving a mansion through the wilderness, with all the bells and whistles you could possibly dream of.

But, as you might expect, this level of opulence doesn’t come cheap. Owning a Bentley is like owning a piece of automotive history, and you’re going to pay a pretty penny for that privilege. But hey, if you’ve got the means, why not cruise around in a car that turns heads and makes a statement everywhere it goes?

In a world where cars are more than just a way to get from A to B, Bentley stands as a beacon of luxury and style. It’s a brand that embodies the finer things in life — a celebration of craftsmanship, performance, and pure indulgence.

Bentley made a 1920s racer EV?

The very first all-electric Bentley has taken a surprising turn. Instead of duking it out with the Rolls-Royce Spectre, Bentley has teamed up with The Little Car Company to bring you something unexpected: an 85% scale replica of the 1929 4.5-liter Supercharged, affectionately known as the Blower.

The Monterey Car Week in California was the stage for the big reveal of the Bentley Blower Jnr. It’s a spitting image of the company’s own Team Car No 2. And here’s the kicker — it’s The Little Car Company’s inaugural foray into road-legal vehicles.

Now, let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of the Bentley Blower Jnr. Thanks to the electric quadricycle regulations in the UK, EU, and USA, this baby is fully road legal. Under the hood — or more accurately, in the rear — there’s a 15 kW (20 horsepower) motor juiced up by a 48-volt electrical system. The claimed range? Up to 65 miles.

Now, don’t expect to break the land speed record. In the UK and Europe, you’re looking at a top speed of 45 mph. But across the pond in the US, local laws dial it back to 25 mph. Oh, and just like The Little Car Company’s other ingenious creations, you get three drive modes, each with its own max power output.

The Bentley Blower Jnr is a labor of love, built entirely by hand. It’s got room for a duo — two adults, one behind the other — both strapped in with regular old three-point seatbelts. And guess where you juice it up? Yep, the charge port’s hiding out in what used to be the front-mounted supercharger, paying homage to the OG Blower.

Inside, those dials take you straight back to the Roaring Twenties, but now they’re pimped out for the electric age. The real OG No 2 Bentley served as a muse for this little masterpiece, shrunk down to 85% of the original size. The result? A 3.7-meter long, 1.5-meter wide marvel that’s fully street legal. No more confining your adventures to private land!

But wait, there’s more. The chassis is attached to a painted steel frame. And they didn’t skimp on the deets — leaf spring suspension, period-perfect friction dampers, and honest-to-goodness Brembo disc brakes up front. Flip the script and you’ve got legit drum brakes on the back axle. Batteries? Tucked away in a sneaky undertray.

Here’s a twist: the Blower Jnr’s got a carbon fiber rear structure, replacing the ash wood of its 1929 counterpart. It’s decked out in fabric, just like the OG, and there’s a lockable boot in what used to house the fuel tank. Perfect for stashing your snazzy weekend bag. The front? A stylish aluminum bonnet locked in with suave leather straps.

Pop inside and you’re greeted by an engine-turned aluminum dashboard. The old-school fuel pressure pump? It’s reborn as the drive mode selector. Comfort, Bentley, and Sport — sounds like the recipe for a blast. And don’t fret, they’ve kept the charm of the original Blower alive with the forward, neutral, and reverse lever, inspired by the ignition advance control.
