PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Cats, Chicken, Bunnies, and Other Life Found on Airports
Week 42 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
It’s been a turbulent week. Turbulent because of the weather. And the wind. But also turbulent because of the change in locations. The far drive. We drove to a new location for the weekend. For work.
But it was nice being somewhere new. Seeing people. I start missing the socializing I used to do. I miss it every day more and more.

Seeing everyone posting pictures of their pets in the photography challenge I had to stop when I walked past the entrance today. Our landlord's cat always sleeps on top of the car. It’s a shady spot since the parking has a roof but she can overview the entire valley from it since the sides are open.
Often I walk past and don’t even see her. She’s so invisible blending in with the surroundings. I had to stand at a certain angle to get her clear in the shot with a bright background.

Sometimes good things come unexpectedly. I had sent our CVs on Tuesday to a company that was looking for instructors to fill in for the weekend. I thought it was worth a try.
On Wednesday I got a reply, had a phone call with the owner, and agreed to the job shortly after. On Wednesday we got our gear ready to drive Friday morning. It was a four-hour drive in the early morning hours into an area of Germany I’ve never been to. And I must say it is a very windy corner of Germany.
After our working jumps, we got to experience a lovely sunset as the wind was dying down.

The next day didn’t look that great. All operations had been canceled due to the weather. The first picture (taken from inside) indicates the rain which occurred in phases. And the second picture (taken from outside) indicates the wind. This picture was taken in the evening when the wind was slowly getting less.
But it was storming most part of the day. The clouds were dark gray and it rained every few hours. Not a nice day to be outside and so we spend our day indoors.

I’ve been to many airports in my life. Big ones, international ones, but also small ones with barely a fence surrounding them. The one thing I often found at those small airports was a cat. A “dropzone cat” how we skydivers would call her.
But at this airport, I found a different airport animal. A small fenced-up area was the living quarter of a few chickens. With a clear view onto the runway. To observe the traffic I assume. And these chicken were all majestic-looking demonstrating their dominance on site.

Other animals I’ve seen a few times now on airports are bunnies. And these two were greeting us here every morning running past the kitchen window. Chasing each other across the lawn in the early morning hours.

Back home again. And nothing has changed. The wind is still howling around the house bringing every half an hour another front carrying heavy rains across the valley. And in between the sun is shining through.

What a gloomy day today. It’s been raining since the morning hours. Not that I don’t like rain. I do love rain. And we usually have our windows open to listen to the rain. But today the weather fitted my schedule.
I had planned to write a lot and therefore I am sitting now on my laptop looking across the valley as the fine drizzle is coming down.
This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once of. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome anyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge sometime last year and many have participated ever since.
