PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Spending my Days in Nature
Week 40 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
It is what is keeping me sane these days. Nature. The daily walks. The search for beauty in life while looking for the daily photograph for this challenge. And the physical exercise of being active while walking.
While looking continuously for new things to capture I’m keeping my curiosity alive.

The weather has been rough. It was raining heavily for most part of the day. With strong gusts and permanent gale-force winds, the rain was coming down horizontally. It looked like the raindrops came in waves onto the earth.
And in one of the few breaks where it didn’t stop raining but just slowed down a bit, where the wind had stopped for a moment and it just gently dropped onto the earth, in one of those moments this Blackbird came out and sat down on the fence.
This female bird just sat there in the rain. Dripping of water. Staring into the distance. And just as I’m taking this shot from behind she turned her head. Looking for her mate it seems.

What a lovely view, isn’t it? This is the road leading into the valley our village is located in. The only road allowing vehicles to enter town. But what a stunning drive. I love this magnificent landscape.

Yes. The forest is green now. What a difference a few days can make. A few days of rain. A few days of sunshine. A few days of wind and all of a sudden the forest is shining in bright green.
I can’t remember when I last saw such lush green colors. Such a lush green forest. Just as much as I can’t remember when I last spent a spring in Germany.

Today we went past the herd of sheep my parents are looking after. It was really hot and the big boss of the herd stayed inside the trailer.
The herd has gotten young ones just a few weeks ago. Those lambs are full of energy jumping around despite the heat. But eventually, they also climbed into the trailer to cool themselves down.

When we were at my grandma’s place today we walked to the cemetery. This is my grandpa’s grave. My grandma, 91, says the flowers have started to wither already. I still see beauty in it thinking of all the memories I do have of my granddad.

One of my favorite shots I’ve taken in the past weeks. At least the favorite shot of tree buds. These blossoms come from an apple tree in my parents’ garden. As covered as the small tree is in blossoms I’m sure there’s gonna be lots of apples this fall.

We went to the very south of Germany to visit a good friend of mine who’s leaving the country to go to the States for a few months. We wanted to meet for a hike but she was complaining the weather forecast predicted rain.
I said it doesn’t matter. We’ll come anyway. I wanted to see her and so we went on a less difficult hike.
As we were getting out of the forest we saw the fog rising. Slowly but surely moving out of the forest climbing up the mountain the haze moved in waves. It created a different atmosphere. Somehow gloomy. Somehow fairytale-like as were walking along the ridge.
This was my attempt in trying to capture the moment.
This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once of. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome anyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge sometime last year and many have participated ever since.
Erika Burkhalter / Eileen Vorbach Collins / Dennett / Sasha Meyer / Tracy Aston/ Lisa Bolin / Juan O. Aguilera / David Wade Chambers / June Nguyen / Mia Verita / Susan Alison / LensAfield and new to the team came Barbara Radisavljevic.
