I have suggested this idea to one of my friends on Facebook and he replied “I want to build a building on my own land” If you don’t understand this analogy then it means that “I want to have my own WordPress blog then investing time and my money on a site that I am sure about.

Nobody likes to take risks, and that’s the reason bloggers or writers don’t want to take the risk with the medium.

But, an expert blogger might find the pros and cons of both the Platforms. When you reach to the end reading this story, you will have a clear cut idea about Blogging on your Wordpress blog Vs. Writing on Medium.

1. An SEO Perspective

If we compare Medium With a WordPress blog using the filter of Search engine optimization then Medium is winning it.

Medium has no ads and has just a single pop-up when a user enters its site and he/she is not registered.

Medium has a good domain authority. Google ranks those sites very well that has a good domain authority. Let say, you write a 2,000 words story on Medium and one of your friend write a story on his blog with the same title and word count. Who would win the search ranking race? Definitely Medium.

You can add the following things to your Medium stories.

  1. Your YouTube channel link.
  2. Your Social Media profile links.
  3. A Sign-up Form or an email submission form.
  4. Your blog post links.
  5. Affiliate links but please avoid adding CPA Links.
  6. A Clickable image but avoid adding any spammy link.
  7. Almost anything.

Even if you want that a reader to read all your Medium stories then you can add links to your story in your article and also make a publication.

In a WordPress blog, you can do the same. If you really want to promote your brand and you have less time to do it, choose Medium.

Medium Partner Program pays you based on the reading time of the Medium members. The longer the reding time you get from a Medium member, the more money you will make.

When you publish a video on YouTube, you are hoping for getting people who daily visit YouTube, YouTube has built-in traffic. The same thing is true for the Medium. When you publish a story then Medium users or people like me and you, who visited Medium for reading, might read your story too.

Running a blog on Wordpress will not help you getting traffic, nobody will know about your blog for two or three years. You have to spend countless hours to rank your articles in the Google search and then some of that user might opt-in for liking one of your social media pages. Building your own WordPress blog from scratch will take you more time to reach a level where you generate enough money from your blog.

Building a blog from scratch will costs you money. You have to pay for the hosting and domain and also have to pay to people for making your website search optimized. It will roughly cost you $200 to $250 per year, while Medium is free of cost if you just want to write on Medium.

You can opt for reading member-only stories on Medium but for that, you have to pay $5/month or $50/year, which is completely worth your money. There are some great writers here who will change your life with their thoughtful stories.

Medium is a great way to share your stories with the world. All you have to do is to follow Medium rules and regulations to be on this platform.

Write beautiful, well-though and life-changing stories and you will feel different.
