Let’s Talk About the Benefits of Bioidentical Hormones for Longevity and Vitality.

What if there is an excellent solution to hypogonadism

Medical breakthroughs substantially change our lives by contributing to our longevity, vitality, and enjoyment. Bioidentical hormones are one of these breakthroughs, but their value is still not well known by the public for several reasons. What can we do?

We have known about bioidentical hormone therapies for a while. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) has been in practice for a long time, at least a decade. I came across scholarly papers from NIH (National Institutes of Health) such as this one published in 2011.

For example, as documented in the Harvard Health Publishing FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved several bioidentical hormones for women’s menopausal symptoms.

However, not many people are aware of them, and not many take benefits from them. Ironically, even family doctors know very little about bioidentical hormone therapies, and they are hesitant to use and recommend them actively.

Of course, these general practitioners do their duty to protect people from the side effects and unknown consequences. These doctors rightly refer their patients to endocrinologists, who are hormone specialists.

I want to share my findings obtained from several friends in social settings. They shared their experiences openly. Listening to their anecdotes and learning from their experience inspired me to pen this piece.

Many of my elderly friends told me that their family doctors never mentioned hormone therapy and did not inform them about bioidentical hormones. Most of them found out from other friends and on the Internet.

Only after they started the conversations did their GPs consider and refer them to hormone specialists.

The Endocrine Society defines bioidentical hormones as compounds with precisely the same chemical and molecular structure as hormones produced in the human body. The keyword is “identical” which makes this process a technological and medical breakthrough.

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is usually applied to those who have a severe deficiency of the associated hormones. These therapies are available for both female and male patients.

In this article, I want to share my conversation with some older male adults in my social circles. Due to the article’s scope, I only focus on male friends and cover female friends’ experiences in a subsequent article.

In my social circles, these older adults are 70 years or older and are treated with Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) by their endocrinologists.

They all experienced a severe deficiency of testosterone in their blood tests. Endocrinologists diagnosed their condition as hypogonadism. Testosterone replacement therapy aims to reverse the effects of hypogonadism.

Hypogonadism means reduced functional activity of the gonads. In men’s case, gonads are their testes. The condition is commonly known as a testicular failure by the public.

With no exceptions, from their anecdotes, all of these friends benefited from testosterone replacement therapy through bioidentical hormones.

Bioidentical hormones are delivered via various methods. The initial therapies for these men with the injections were painful, but later, when they switched to other forms like cream and gels applied to their skin, they did not feel any more pain or discomfort.

They apply the gel or cream once a day in the mornings after the shower. No smell and discomfort from the medication occurred.

Within a few months, their hormone levels improved and even normalized. Some had an optimal level in six months and reaped more benefits from the therapy.

Testosterone is a critical hormone that produces several benefits for men. For example, benefits can include bone density, muscle mass, body hair, libido, and red blood cell production.

Natural testosterone helps produce sperm, but the friends mentioned that their bioidentical hormones stopped sperm production. As confirmed by their specialists, reduced sperm production was the only difference they experienced so far. However, this side effect did not cause them any problems in their daily lives, as none were planning to have kids anymore.

These elderly folks gained many benefits from bioidentical hormone therapy. The most important one they highly regarded was their overall feeling of youth. They were reliving their young years.

These men experienced many benefits within a year. They started losing fat and keeping lean muscles. Their mental capabilities improved. For example, they experienced an improvement in memory and attention. They felt more energetic and started exercising again. Their relationship with partners improved.

What amused me was they were feeling like teenagers. Their enthusiasm, satisfaction, and joy were noticeable. It seemed that bioidentical hormones introduced them to longevity and vitality.

The literature and online forums on TRT mention side effects of hormonal therapies, particularly testosterone, such as acne, oily skin, low sperm production, potential blood clots, man boobs, and the testicles’ shrinkage, and even increased risk of stroke and heart attack.

These side effects indeed sound scary and may concern patients. However, I was amazed by hearing their claims. My friends heard about these side effects, and none of them experienced any of them.

However, they are cautious. They continuously get health checkups. Endocrinologists check several blood markers for them. Family doctors also check their well-being regularly.

Their repeated blood tests showed their hormones normalized. All other blood markers showed normal too. They are cautious about the potential side effects, but amazingly, none have noticed anything unusual so far.

Their stories touched me. Observing such transformation inspired me. I met many elderly friends who gave up enjoying life. They blamed their age for lack of energy and vitality. Due to low energy, they don’t exercise and gain weight.

In my opinion, older men and even younger men experiencing symptoms and effects of hypogonadism should talk with their family doctors and request a referral to an endocrinologist.

From reading the literature, even though it is common for older people, hypogonadism is not exclusive to the elderly. Some young men may also have this condition.

This medical breakthrough can help them to reverse their condition. Some simple blood checks can identify the root causes of these issues. Then, these problems can be treated by talented specialists.

Just addressing one hormonal issue made a big difference for my friends. I believe many more hormonal therapies can create wonders for many other people experiencing discomfort and suffering.

Hormones play a significant role in our lives. They determined our vitality, energy, and motivation.

Technology and medicine made significant progress in creating these bio-identical hormones. Why don’t we take advantage of them?

I read about many anti-aging clinics in the United States that were emerging, and some of them have already established and provided successful services to many patients. They appeared to be costly. I hope they become available to many who cannot afford them.

I believe men suffering from low testosterone symptoms may consult with their physicians and see an endocrinologist for a hormonal checkup. These conditions can be identified and treated professionally.

Treatments can help them feel happier and more satisfied. Perhaps, these chronologically aged people may have a chance to experience younger biological ages and have an opportunity to relive their youth.

And my biggest wish is to reduce the suffering and pain of those who are disadvantaged from hormonal issues.

Thank you for reading my perspectives. I wish you a healthy and happy life.
