PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE

Being Out of Breath Between Sunset and Sunrise Beauty

Week 63 of the photographic documentary of my daily life

It’s been a week of awe, a week of rain and lots of heavy fog, and more adventures. The one day it’s the sunrise that amazes me, the next day the sunset leaves me in awe.

There’s a new member of our camera family. Next to my Canon EOS 750D and several GoPros, we do own now as well a drone. We bought a second-hand one since it is the first time for us to fly a drone and I guess we’ll need some practice.

The title image was taken on our first excursion with the new member. I don’t know why, but I like aerial views.

Today I got to experience a breathtaking sunrise above our valley while the fog was still hanging low above the ground. I was in awe standing with my cup of tea on the terrace watching the spectacle.

Every minute the sky changed colors and I snapped enough pictures for a separate article.

Back at work again. Jumping now almost on every jump with a camera on my wrist. Slowly but surely I do shoot those things I intend to. Here I even got my video flyer into the frame. He could come a bit closer for a better view next time.

Below you can see one of the longest runways in Germany. It’s over 3 kilometers long if I’m not mistaken. Initially built to be a landing option for space shuttles. Well, that didn’t happen. So now, it’s for us an easy point of recognition.

Sunday vibes. All gray in gray. Nobody was in a mood for smiles except for the plane. Not today. It stayed overcast the whole day and we couldn’t jump. No jump means no work. No work means no income.

But that’s the business we’re in. We surely depend on the weather.

It’s noon and I still haven’t seen the sun. I haven’t seen the sky either. Or the horizon. It’s overcast and the fog is hanging still low in our valley.

I went to bring out the trash when I got distracted by the birds chirping. I looked around and saw some bluetits flying around chit-chatting to each other. I went back inside and took out my camera. I didn’t have to wait long for them to get back. Next to a bluetit I also captured a sparrow sitting on the fence.

It was another gray in gray day. It was dark and gray when I got up. It rained. The fog was covering the valley. No changes until lunchtime. It still rained and the fog was blocking my view onto the horizon.

No idea what happened next. But it looked something like this:

And just after the sun had set yesterday I knew there was going to be a pretty sunrise the next morning. The night was clear and cold. I got up with the first rays of sunshine and this is what I saw.

Some soft cushion-like clouds being painted from the sun’s first light. I was breathless standing on the side of the road for a while before I got back in the car and continued my drive.
