PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE

Between Sunrises, Fallen Leaves and the Sky

Week 62 of the photographic documentary of my daily life

It’s been rainy, it was misty, we had some frost, and in between the sun was shining. The leaves are turning from green to yellow, orange, and eventually brown.

October has brought us some golden hours so far, but it has been cold too.

This palm tree featured in the title image is standing on the balcony right out front of my room at my parents' place. I got the plant years ago from the lady living in the flat above my parents. She put some of them in the hallway of the house. And I got one.

The ones in the house barely grew. The one in my room grew to this exorbitant size today where my mom had to put her out of my room because the palm tree would take in the entire room.

I loved this plant. It represented the feeling of being on vacation. It stood for holidays on the beach and simply happy vibes. And to this day I can’t allow my mom to get rid of it. One day I’ll need a big house with a winter garden for my exotic palm tree.

And below are shots from my parents' strawberries mentioned in the last photo essay. They look so pretty in fall’s colors.

Back home again. The fairytale village is changing colors. The forest surrounding the settlement is slowly but surely switching to a multi-colored festival.

I’m getting up during sunrise these days to get to work in time. Guess what? It’s been cold. Like really cold. The first frost of the season was covering the fields. The low-hanging fog was hanging in the valley. Above, the sun was painting the sky.

New angles for a change. Since pictures and videos are important these days, I’m strapping now a camera to my hand while flying through the sky. Personally, I prefer the view of an outside camera flyer but some people can’t afford that and just book the “handcam option”.

(For those new to my profile, I’m a skydiving instructor.)

So this is me. In the sky. Having a stranger attached to my body. Rushing at 200kph towards the earth. And meanwhile, I’m taking a selfie because why not?

I must be honest. One of the people I’m following on Instagram posted a similar picture with leaves in different colors. I decided to take it as inspiration and create my own natural color palette.

This is the result.

My dad came to visit today. My husband and my dad changed the tires of our car. Summer tires off, winter tires on. It took them about half an hour to change all four tires. That was the only half an hour this day when it didn’t rain.

Later we decided to go for a 2-hour hike in the forest. Despite the rain. I only took out my camera once. Underneath a tree where I was slightly protected from the dripping.

To capture this unique mushroom.

After a rainy morning, the sun was peaking through in between the clouds, and eventually, the sky turned blue. We went for a short walk just before the sun disappeared behind the mountain. That was when I captured this maple tree in the last rays of sunshine for the day.
