Searching For Beauty
Photo-A-Day Challenge (27th Sept — 3rd Oct)
Day 1: Lefkara
The beauty of Cyprus inspires the photographer in me. I decided to visit Lefkara village last week and on the way, I stopped off at a donkey farm. To my surprise, the oldest olive tree in Cyprus is located at the farm and still produces a harvest of olives. It crowned my week of discoveries!
It is difficult to choose one picture from Lefkara, but since Lefkara is renowned for its lace embroidery, the picture below represents the delicate beauty of this art.

Day 2: Pissouri
Since the weather has cooled to a pleasant 28 degrees Celsius, I visited Pissouri village to take pictures for my photo blog. Lo and behold, Aphrodite appeared in a clay jar in someone’s front yard!

Day 3: Limassol
While out for a walk in Limassol where I currently reside, I could only marvel at the beauty of the frangipani tree beside the St Raphael Hotel.

Day 4: Kurion Beach
There’s always time for coffee in Cyprus! Taking time out by the sea renews creative energy and allows time for reflection.

Day 5: Old Town, Pano Paphos
Paphos is only an hour’s drive from Limassol. An overnight stay provided countless photo opportunities; searching for beauty is my mission. I came across a place called The Place in the old town, which sells traditional Cypriot handicrafts and products. The preservation of these crafts is commendable in this modern age.

Day 6: Kato Paphos
There is something awe-inspiring about a structure which has been around since Byzantine times. The current fortress is an Ottoman renovation in 1592. If walls could speak!

Day 7: Limassol
Back in Limassol, I enjoyed an evening stroll along St Raphael beach. Sunsets in Cyprus are always majestic!

I never cease to be amazed at the idyllic scenes of the island of Cyprus. A note to those who search for beauty: seek and you shall find!
I would like to acknowledge that I discovered Snapshots through Barbara Radisavljevic. I also enjoyed recent posts by Dennett, Gustavo Mendez, Ellie Jacobson, K. Barrett and Anne Bonfert. I look forward to reading more.
