Quintessential October Writer’s Showcase:
Welcome to our Collective Happy Times!
We asked our writers to share with you their Top 10 Favorite Life Moments — or something like that! We asked our writers to share with you moments in their lives that left them filled with joy, speechless, or overwhelmed in the best way.
These articles are MUST READS as selected by the authors themselves!
Read. Enjoy. And perhaps you’ll even find some new favorite authors to follow on Medium.

“How I Found ME Hiding in the Happy: Who would have thought moments of joy would be the ultimate key to unlocking SELF” by KP_the_writer
I have some themes running through my happy times and it is through those themes that I found what I value the most: Adventure, wonder, freedom, beauty, and spontaneity.

“I Need to Find My Happiness in the Present Tense, Even While Struggling: This moment is the only place where I can safely feel it right now” by Logan Silkwood
Is this my happiest moment? It doesn’t matter. This moment is real. I don’t want to rank this mix of emotions against my past or my future. I just want to feel them. All of them.

“Top Ten Moments: The Top Ten Moments In Jymi Cliche’s Life…” by Jymi Cliche
I kind of figured that most of my biggest moments were trauma related because there have easily been ten giant traumas that have fucked me up for a lifetime… but I’m delighted to say that narrowing it down to the ten greatest moments was more difficult than coming up with those moments.

“Moments When I Felt Happiest and Most Alive: These moments not only remind me of better times, they also reveal my deepest values.” by Sieran Lane
…during these moments of aliveness and great happiness, I often felt like I was in an altered state of consciousness, where everything was more intense, more magnified, and more thrilling.

“10 Happy Moments of Varying Goofiness” by Damian Pak
Take my hand. We’re going on an adventure through ten moments of personal joy. Some of them are huge, some of them are tiny. Many of them are so ridiculous I have no choice but to regale the tale, like an old fisherman on a creaky boat.

SNEAK PEAK: November Quintessential Showcase
For November, we will be calling on our writers to share their favorite superheroes and why, OR, their own superhero personas! There are a few things many of us transgender peeps seem to have in common and one I’ve discovered over the years is a kinship for superheroes or at least, characters that are representative of something we saw in ourselves before we were ready to acknowledge it. For our writers willing to go the extra mile, what would be their ideal superhero power be? Invisibility? Speed? Strength? Shapeshifting? What would their superhero name be? Maybe, they’ll even write a story about their persona. Anything goes so it should be a fun showcase!
QT writers — watch out for the Quintessentials on the 16th for your invitation to submit to our November showcase. Note: you DO NOT need to have your submission published with Queerly Trans nor does it need to be a new post.

From the Editor
Who’s Doing NaNoWriMo?
Random? Yeah, maybe! But it’s almost that time of year again. National Novel Writing Month (external link) has been around for 23 years now! It started with a small group of writers and in 2021, 427,653 writers ‘competed’ to win. But you only compete against yourself because to ‘win’ NaNo, you write 50k words in November. Or, you could be a NaNo rebel and create your own target. Personally, I’ve ‘won’ NaNo three times, but I’ve signed up for it and not won, many times, lol. I won’t say ‘lost’ because no one loses NaNo. Anything you do during NaNo is more than you had without it, so there is no lose.
So, who’s doing NaNo this year? October is PREPTOBER so there is plenty of time to jump on in.
The podcast I do with fellow writer, Kristy Westaway, The Character Collective, kicks off with episode one of season three this Wednesday. During October, we’re planning our rebel NaNo projects. The podcast is super raw so you get us in all our weirdness, haha.
NaNo should be a fun bunch of random for me this year. Insider tip — my NUSA kids a frothing over my plans! Haha.
Welcome, Damian!
We have a new writer on the Queerly Trans team. Let’s all welcome to the team, Damian Pak! Check out Damian’s profile and read their showcase piece above. We look forward to sharing your posts on Queerly Trans.
PUBLICATION REMINDER — ALL the Representation!
Enbyous
The non-binary publication, created and written by enbies, for enbies, genderqueer, agender, genderfuckers, gender non-conforming, and anyone else who does not prescribe to the gender binary… and our allies!
Trans Love & (A)Sexuality
Asexual/sexual perspectives from within trans & other gender expansive communities: erotica, essays, non-fiction. We can help answer each other’s questions and collectively feel less alone, while taking back our own narratives. CW: Adult content (18+); may not be safe for work.
We hope you enjoyed our showcase. On the first of every month (or close to — because, what I said above, lol), we’ll share with you a new showcase of wonderful reads from our writers as selected by them. Make sure you check it out as our showcases include posts you won’t find on Queerly Trans — these are the stories our writers want you to read, the ones they know you’ll love or maybe, that you need to read.
