Asking The Right Questions Is Tough But More Impactful

In response to Dancing Elephants prompt 46 of 52

Photo by Jon Tyson on Unsplash

As I read the following weekly prompt posted by Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles with several suggestions, I am inspired to act upon all her suggestions, and my mind is wandering and wondering with questions like:

Write About Something That Has Had a Positive Impact on Your Life

“Should I post a picture? Which one?”

I seem to have written about this. Should I post a link to that article?

Should I share my library of links to audio and videos that impacted me?

I am sure my DEP writers participating can relate to my thoughts…

Anyway I am going to pick some of the suggestions and move on LOL

Something you learned during your childhood that has stayed with you, having an impact on your personality

For me, it is making Rangoli.

The entire process of learning a rangoli and creating my version has been keeping me inspired from the time I learned when I was five till now when I am over sixty years!

Something you do for a living because you are passionate about it

I thought holding a lucrative job and being passionate about serving the employer’s institution was the best thing to do for a living. I was wrong.I learned to bring passion to whatever I do now. I did this by letting go of what I built up passionately in order to allow for new life and career events and experiences.

To give a few examples, I had to let go of my highly scientific academic Masters's degree in Chemistry learnings to allow a career (a totally new domain) in Nationalized Bank in India in order to meet family financial obligations. I had to let go of a prestigious and lucrative managerial position in India to accompany my family to another country.

Now I bring passion to whatever I do by holistic living through my funny acronym EGGSTEM, which has helped me transition from a Highly career-oriented person holding a Managerial position in a Nationalized Bank in India to a grandmother in the United States.

Are you Wondering What is EGGSTEM?

  • Exercise to nurture every cell of my body
  • Giving with Gratitude,
  • Growth Mindset to move through life events and transformations.
  • Social Connection to enrich relationships
  • Time Affluence by consciously slowing down and investing time in meaningful activities
  • Enjoy Every Moment
  • Meditation-I have a Meditation Medley

A hobby that enriches your life and brings you joy

Learning a song by myself using Youtube, practicing and recording it as a Podcast Episode. I am providing a link to a couple of my Devotional songs recorded in Tamil ( sorry my non-Tamil speakers/readers/listeners)

Song 1-Ketkuthu Paar Osai

Song 2- Thanga Thadahathil

Meditation

Trying different types of meditation and creating a weekly Meditation Medley. I find that each meditation helps me connect with different parts of my body and mind in different ways. As I have benefitted from them I invite you to try the following meditations

Silva Centering Exercise

Deepak Chopra’s Chakra Balancing Exercise

A habit you enjoy

Walking in nature
