Apple’s Exciting AR Headset Has Finally Been Revealed
The highly anticipated Augmented reality headset by Apple was officially mentioned as the Apple Vision Pro.

So, in my previous stories, I’ve talked about all kinds of VR and AR headsets. You can find the links to those at the end of this post.
But today, I wanna chat about AR headsets in general and this cool new one from Apple called the Vision Pro. It’s gonna be epic!
What is an AR headset?
So, you know how virtual reality (VR) takes you to a whole new world, immersing you in a completely digital experience? Well, augmented reality (AR) headsets are kinda like that, but with a twist.
AR headsets are these nifty gadgets that let you see and interact with virtual elements in the real world. Picture yourself wearing a pair of futuristic glasses that overlay computer-generated images, information, and animations onto your actual surroundings. It’s like having an extra layer of digital awesomeness in your everyday life.
AR headsets use clever technology to track your movements and the environment around you. They have built-in sensors, cameras, and sometimes even depth-sensing capabilities. These smart features allow the headset to understand your position and the objects in your surroundings. It can seamlessly blend virtual content with the real world.
Imagine strolling through your neighborhood, and suddenly, you spot helpful directions floating in front of you. Or maybe you’re at the supermarket, and as you reach for that cereal box, you see nutritional information hovering right above it. It’s like having your own personal digital assistant right in your field of view.
AR headsets have a ton of practical applications too. They can be used in industries like architecture and design, where professionals can visualize and manipulate 3D models right in front of their eyes.
They’re also handy in education, enabling students to explore interactive lessons and simulations. And let’s not forget gaming! AR gaming takes your favorite characters and gameplay elements and drops them into your living room. It’s like bringing the game to life!
Apple made an AR headset?
Yep, that’s right. Apple finally spilled the beans at their WWDC 2023 event and officially revealed their super hyped augmented/virtual reality headset! They’re calling it Apple Vision Pro. This bad boy is not your typical gadget. It’s what they like to call a “spatial computing” platform that you don’t just look at, you look through!
The Apple Vision Pro starts at a whopping $3,500 and will hit stores early next year in 2024. Tim Cook, the big boss at Apple, claims that this headset will totally change the game in the world of technology. He’s even calling it a revolutionary product.
According to Apple’s official statement, the Vision Pro offers an amazing experience by giving you an infinite canvas for apps, way beyond the limits of a regular screen. And get this, you control it with your voice, hands, and even your eyes! No clunky controllers are needed here, folks.
Unlike other VR/AR headsets, this bad boy won’t totally block out the real world. You can still see the people and things around you while enjoying a virtual overlay of apps and programs. Imagine sitting on your couch, watching something, and having a virtual screen that’s even bigger than your actual TV. Mind-blowing, right?
Oh, and it’s not just for gaming. The Vision Pro is a multitasking beast! You can wear it at work and run all sorts of apps while staying connected to the real world. Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, even popped up on stage to confirm that Disney Plus and other cool apps will be available for this bad boy. They even showed off a reel of awesome experiences, like virtually attending sports matches. How cool is that?
Battery-wise, you can use the Vision Pro all day when it’s plugged in (duh!) or for up to 2 hours with an external battery that you can carry in your pocket. It’s powered by a fancy new chip and runs on an operating system made especially for AR/VR. Oh, and if you wear glasses, no worries! You can get separate Zeiss Optical Inserts to cater to your vision correction needs.
