An Interview with “The Brain is a Noodle”
Some fun questions & answers

Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she//她) invited writers from her publication “The Brain is a Noodle” to answer these questions. Looked like fun to me!!
Here we go…
[1] What did you like to do most when you were 10? They say that this hobby is likely what brings you the most joy in life — is this something you still do?
I loved to read. At that age, it was mostly Judy Blume, Flowers in the Attic, and all the other classic young adult series from the 70s/80s. But I was always interested in alternative health and other ways of looking at the world. My parents got the magazine “Prevention” where I learned how to do acupressure to relieve headaches, all about how herbs can heal, and the connection of the mind, body, and spirit.
I don’t read as much as I would like to now. I find it hard to give myself permission. My mind is always turning on work, writing, etc… To give myself time to read with a cup of tea is truly pure heaven for me.
[2] What genres do you write? Why do you choose to write with these types of structures? What’s attractive about them?
My published books are all non-fiction. They often begin with personal experiences and what I learned from them.
My first book “What If You Could Skip the Cancer?” is my personal story from 1999 where I met my first spiritual teacher who helped me when faced with the cancer that has been passed down through my family. After months of dark nights of the soul and many realizations, I had a miraculous healing and my life completely changed. A few years later, I decided to do more research into spontaneous remissions and why people heal… the result was my first published book!
My next book “Tantric Intimacy: Discover the Magic of True Connection” was born out of my teachings in tantra. My students wanted a book that they could dive into. However, I had no book that I could recommend because the tantra that I teach came through life and revelation. So, I wrote one!
The rest of my books are collections of stories that apply to our lives. I love this format because I think stories are the ideal way that we learn. Plus, I just really love telling stories!
(Oh… and here on Medium, I have also branched out into a new genre — erotica. Those stories can be found under my “second identity” Katrina Lynn.)
[3] What’s your all-time favourite childhood TV show?
Wow. That’s a tough one. I was raised on Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Gilligan’s Island, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat… I don’t know if I could choose.
But if we go back a bit further, perhaps Sesame Street and Mr. Roger’s Neighbourhood would be some shows that I would even want to rewatch today!
[4] Pick one sense and tell us about the most relaxing thing you do in relation to that sense.
Smell. I love to walk along the road and suddenly have a wonderful smell take me over. It could be lilacs in the spring or freshly mowed grass or the smell of a campfire. A wonderful smell will literally stop me in my tracks and fill my whole body with so much joy.
[5] Who is someone you want to connect more with this month? How might you go about doing this?
I have many great friends. I don’t know if there is a specific person that I would like to connect with more. But I would love to connect in a different way. I would like to ask more questions. Because I am a storyteller, I tend to be the one talking a lot. I’m not great at asking questions… But really, I know what my own thoughts and stories are. I would love to improve my ability to ask questions… Learn more. Speak less.
