May Interview Questions with The Brain is a Noodle!
A collaborative way to get to know all TBIN writers better!

Writing can be such a lonesome adventure — sometimes that quiet and alone time is much needed. Yet other times it might genuinely be isolating!
That’s why I wanted to take some time to get to know each of you better, aside from staying on top of reading your newest pieces!
Introducing: new monthly interview challenges, where readers like me get to know who you are and what sparks your fire more!
In this interview, there will be:
- 5 “full” questions
- 5 “this or that” questions
- 5 “prompts” for articles to share.
I’m curious to learn more about you, as writers, readers, and as human beings in general!
May Interview Questions
If you publish these somewhere other than TBIN, please do tag me so I can make sure I read through them! As always, would love to house them in TBIN. Also, for ease of access for others who might want to fill out this interview, feel free to include a direct link so that they can copy and paste the questions right over!

My responses!
[1] What did you like to do most when you were 10? They say that this hobby is likely what brings you the most joy in life — is this something you still do?
As a ten year old, my hobbies were simple! I liked to read, write and draw. It took me until the last few years to reprise these hobbies, abandoned becuase of busy school schedules.
Reading — I’m finally reading a lot more thank you to my local libraries offering ebooks and audiobooks! In fact, for 2021, I’m already 8/12 books through my yearly goal. That’s probably 8 more books than I’d read for leisure back in my undergrad days. Hop here if you have any great book suggestions (yes, you may recommend me your own books lol).
Writing — I think this is clear! Mid-pandemic, I had joined Medium and met such an amazing community like you! It’s so much more fun to do when you have a community of people actively engaging with what you write.
Drawing — I now have new tablet with stylus that I’m using to learn digital art! I have a few sticker packs up in my upload queue, ready to upload to my shop and I’m really excited to finally upgrade those art skills and make it more of a routine.
[2] What genres do you write? Why do you choose to write with these types of structures? What’s attractive about them?
The most accurate way to describe what genres I write is that I write free form poetry most of the time, and this free form poetry blurs the lines between meme and poetry. It’s mostly to help me de-stress and express myself in ways that don’t involve talking (which honestly isn’t my kinda thing).
And then, once in a while, a good, expressive piece in the form of a personal essay or creative non-fiction will come out. Just like that. Unannounced. Like a nosebleed.
[3] What’s your all-time favourite childhood TV show?
I couldn’t pick one so here’s all of them!
- sailor moon
- mcdull
- magic school bus
[4] Pick one sense and tell us about the most relaxing thing you do in relation to that sense.
Today I’m picking sound as one of the senses and reflecting on how music plays a part in helping me de-stress. My favourite singer is IU, who does a lot of slow-paced ballads as well as fast-paced songs that really speak the truth about life.
[5] Who is someone you want to connect more with this month? How might you go about doing this?
My motto this month is to put my effort more into connections that bring me joy and to stop letting the ones that suck the life out of me eclipse my entire existence. Part of this is getting to know you — as writers and as cool human beings — through these May monthly challenges!
I also have a few people in mind whom I genuinely just want to message on a more frequent basis and set up more game nights between just the two of us. Plans are in the motions, wish me luck!
