through the stocking

a poem about milk tea

Photo by Rosalind Chang on Unsplash

through the nylon stocking the tea is strained so that only the smoothest texture twirls around your tongue.

it’s not REALLY a nylon stocking

but a sieve that has been used day in, day out, stained dark red by the tea but washed out by the colour of the milk to look like a sock.

to think that something seemingly so weird is juxtaposed with one of my favourite ways to enjoy tea in the world

is certainly something to think and smile about.

Tagging Punch Drunk Cola | Angela Farley | Ema Dumitru | Melissa Speed | Baye Amina | Allison Gaines | Aaron Kemp | Zach Klebaner if you’re up to it and anyone else interested in today’s prompt: a drink that represents a city you love.

How to join: include the original post of the person who tagged you for reference and tag 5–10 other people (or simply ‘tag all’) who might be interested in this prompt! (Ps, there’s no deadline!)

Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) loves the sweet, silky texture of a good Hong Kong style milk tea. Not to be confused with just … putting milk in your tea.
