“Me? What do I want?”

You nod.

Alaric opens his mouth, then stops himself with a sharp exhale. He gazes out of the cave’s exit, yet his eyes focus on a place far from here. “A simpler life, before orcs ravaged the land and blood mages tortured the innocent.”

His words sink in, and you can almost hear the screams of the people in your village when it was burning. At some point, the killing needs to stop.

Someone must break the cycle.

“Something tells me you yearn for the same,” he says. “Let’s help each other. We’re stronger together.”
