An Abundant List

Creating holiday cheer by supporting others

Gifts are my love language. I love to give and receive gifts of all kinds. Yesterday my husband and I had such a joyful time creating our holiday giving list. We love to give gifts that will bring joy to others. It’s a yearly tradition that we really enjoy doing. We spent some time making a list, ordering things, and finding ways to support lots of local people we know that sell handcrafted items. This joy of giving brings such abundance to our hearts. On my 100-day journey, every single day, I find a new way to embrace and enjoy what we have and what we have to share.

A giving attitude is the key to the door of abundance. -Debasish Mridha

Giving gifts and sharing the extra abundance that we have regularly brings up a fresh spring of joy in my heart. We find ways to share all year long, but this time of year, happiness is concentrated. This year is different. That just means that we have an extra opportunity to send our love.

One of our favorite gifts that we will be giving this year is a custom gift certificate for mini-pies from a local man who lives far out in the countryside. He is called “The Pie Guy.” He makes the most delicious little pies of flavors such as pecan, berry, chocolate cream, apple, coconut cream, and many more. You can pick up his pies from a mini-fridge on his front porch and pay for them by placing money in a box with a slot. This is such a beautiful, personal way to buy a handcrafted item from a food artist.

If you want love and abundance in your life, give it away- Mark Twain

Another gift we are giving a lot of this year is beautiful, hand-blended tea made by my dear friend Sally. She has an amazing farm nearby and takes good care of all of the plants and animals there. She creates healthy and delicious teas, all made by hand. These will go to many friends and family so that they may enjoy a warm cup of joy. I received a personal email from her yesterday, confirming my order and telling me about her life. What a beautiful thing it is to know who makes your tea!

We are also giving handmade cards made by two friends that I know. One of them, Famke, does alcohol ink paintings. They are so beautiful. She once made me a custom candle with lovely gold and green colors. I love her work, and I know it will bring abundant happiness to all. My other friend Malaina takes macro photos of flowers and local scenery. They are simply stunning! She creates notecards, bookmarks, calendars, and more from her artfully composed photos.

My prayer and my intention for you today is that you include local artisans when you think of holiday gifts to buy this year. The joy that they put into their work will create abundance for those that you gift the items to, and it will create more for their families to enjoy. The circle of giving continues in this way.
