Absolute Beginners Guide to ChatGPT

There’s been a lot of buzz around ChatGPT lately and artificial intelligence is nothing new, but these next wave of AI tools are on another level. I started playing around with ChatGPT a few months ago and first stared at a box which was very similar to other chatbots that are already out there. My mind has been trained to use Google by using a few words and scouring the search results until I find the relevant article, which is exactly what I did. I type in “How can I be more productive?” and to my surprise ChatGPT gave me a few recommendations which were good, but there‘s a certain way to get the most out of ChatGPT which are listed below.

Tips and tricks when using ChatGPT

Be clear and concise in your questions: The better you articulate your question, the more accurate and relevant the answer will be.

Use specific keywords: ChatGPT works best when you use specific keywords related to your question. This helps it to understand what you’re looking for and provide a more accurate response.

Provide context: If you’re asking a question that requires some background information, be sure to provide it. This will help ChatGPT to better understand the question and provide a more accurate response.

Use the right tone: ChatGPT is designed to respond to natural language, so try to use a conversational tone. Avoid using complex language or technical jargon that could confuse the AI.

Be patient: ChatGPT is an AI and may take some time to respond to your questions. Be patient and wait for the response. If you don’t get a response right away, try rephrasing your question or using different keywords.

Use the right tools: ChatGPT is designed to help you with a wide range of tasks, but it’s not a replacement for other tools. Use it in conjunction with other tools to get the best results.

Stay up-to-date: ChatGPT is constantly learning and improving, so make sure you check back regularly for updates and new features.

Examples of bad and good questions for ChatGPT:

Bad questions:

Tell me everything about writing. What is AI artwork? How do I do SEO? Help make AI art. How can I be more productive?

These questions are too broad and vague. They don’t provide enough information for ChatGPT to provide a meaningful response. They also don’t specify what the user is looking for, making it difficult for ChatGPT to provide a personalized response.

Good questions:

How can I improve my writing skills? How can I bring my AI artwork to the next level? How can I optimize my website for search engines leveraging the latest AI ? How can I make AI art in 5 mins? How can I improve productivity while working from home?

These questions are specific and clearly state what the user is looking for. They are also open-ended, which allows ChatGPT to provide a more personalized response.

In general, good questions for ChatGPT are specific, open-ended, and provide enough context for the AI to understand what the user is looking for. Bad questions are too broad, vague, or don’t provide enough context.

As amazing as ChatGPT is it just got better with GPT-4 on March 14, 2023!
