A Swirl in Her Hair

“Pull Quotes” of a 4 Year Old: Weeks 23-24

When I was younger, my mom would cut my hair (she went to school for it, it wasn’t just a money-saver). If my dad was around, he’d always note how I ended up with his uncle’s “remolino.” Tio Macho apparently had a swirl in his hair on the back of his neck.

My daughter’s hair grew in slowly (pixie-cut until 2) and it was only recently she too ended up with the same mini-tornado on her nape. She may not have gotten my curl, but that’s my girl, she got my swirl.

After my haircut *Friday, it made me laugh when my daughter noticed the absence of my swirl (see quote above). She remembered our mutual hair feature. And it warmed my heart.

As I’ve mentioned before, she certainly looks more like her mother. So it makes me feel good to know she’ll always at least have the one small physical trait that connects her to me — and further to my father, even though he never got the chance to meet her.

If you’re happy and you know it, and you really wanna show it… 👏🏽
