A Song on Her Lips

“Pull Quotes” of a 4 Year Old: Weeks 19-20

You sing to your baby. A lot. To soothe them to sleep, to calm them as you change diapers, to keep your sanity as you spend hours upon hours with this little person who is not one for great conversation.

It’s no wonder then that she now sings any chance she gets, makes her own songs, changes lyrics to suit her moods and does not particularly care to share the spotlight. (It’s your own fault. She learned it by watching you, alright?!… She learned it by watching you.)

These are the “Pull Quotes” of your life. Back in the day:

😀 A Personality (Weeks 1-2) | 😱 A Flair for the Dramatic (3-4) 👹 An Active Imagination (5-6) | 🙋🏻 A Growing Independence (7-8) 🏡 A Happy Homelife (9-10) | 💝 A Sweet Heart (11-12) 👀 Her Mother’s Eyes (13-14) | 🚀A Sense of Adventure (15-16) 💃 A Kick in Her Step (17-18)

Here are my daughter’s darndest “Pull Quotes” of recent days:

Monday, May 7

“I’m growing hair in my nose!”

Tuesday, May 8

“I’m giving you a big hug and kiss cause I miss you so much.”

Wednesday, May 9

“I did a cutshort (shortcut).”

Thursday, May 10

“I’m not allowed to get married, that was just a joke.”

Friday, May 11

Daddy: Look they have orange-pineapple. Daughter: Oooh! I don’t like that.

Saturday, May 12

“I just maked it up.”

Sunday, May 13

Daddy: I’m in love with you. Daughter: You mean me? Daddy: Yes you and mommy. Daughter: You always in love with me.

Setting the toy-store stage for her interpratation of “Life of Pi.”

Monday, May 14

“Let’s split up…”

Tuesday, May 15

“Mommy can I slay (lay) in it.”

Wednesday, May 16

“Mommy when I’m 8, I’m going to go to London and watch spooky movies.”

Thursday, May 17

“I found a bunny in the garden!”

Friday, May 18

“I wiss (wish) I be a birdie.”

Saturday, May 19

“Dada, do you have any more of that cinnamon raisin bread?”

Sunday, May 20

(singing) “Ha la yu yah!”

For a while as a baby, we thought “she may never be a singer.” Because those were, in fact, the exact words an Ear Nose & Throat specialist used once while explaining to us how our dear daughter (not even a year old) had some paralysis in a vocal cord. My eyes widened as I knew the unspeakable words she just uttered would cut right through my singing-since-the-womb wife.

Luckily for us, (though perhaps unluckily at times) the issue had resolved itself by the time we revisited the ENT. Because she too, like her mama before her, loves singing. And I am happy for ever moment I get to hear her sing. Yes, even if my singing to her is no longer appreciated.

If you’re happy and you know it, and you really wanna show it… 👏🏽
