A Smart Ring By Samsung Could Be Releasing Next Year

The Samsung Galaxy Ring might be launched in 2024.

In some of my earlier posts, I’ve chatted about all sorts of cool wearable gadgets. You can find the links to those down below.

But today, let’s dive into the world of smart rings, and I’ll even spill the beans on the soon-to-drop Samsung Galaxy Ring!

What is a smart ring?

So, you know how we’ve got smartphones that do all sorts of cool stuff, right? Well, imagine taking some of that awesomeness and miniaturizing it into a tiny, sleek ring that you can wear on your finger. That’s basically what a smart ring is — a high-tech gadget in a super compact form!

Now, I’m not talking about just any ordinary ring here. We’re diving into the realm of wearable technology, where fashion meets functionality. Smart rings are like James Bond gadgets for the modern age. They come equipped with a bunch of nifty features that can make your daily life more convenient and connected.

First off, these rings usually have some sort of small display or LED lights that can show you notifications from your smartphone. You’re sitting in a meeting, and instead of sneaking a peek at your phone, you can discreetly glance at your ring to see if you’ve got any important messages or calls. Talk about being slick, right?

But wait, there’s more! Smart rings can also track your health and fitness. They’ve got sensors that monitor things like your heart rate, activity levels, and even sleep patterns.

It’s like having a personal fitness coach right on your finger. Need a gentle nudge to get moving? Your ring can remind you to stretch those legs after sitting for too long.

Now, don’t think these rings are just about being a mini smartphone or a fitness guru. They can also be your secret key — literally! Some smart rings are designed to work with compatible smart locks, allowing you to unlock your door with a simple touch. No more fumbling for keys when you’ve got your hands full of groceries.

Oh, and remember how some credit cards allow you to tap and pay? Well, guess what? Certain smart rings have NFC (Near Field Communication) technology built in, meaning you can pay for your coffee or groceries with a flick of your finger. It’s like magic, but with science!

And here’s the cool part: smart rings are still evolving. As technology gets even smarter, who knows what other tricks these little rings will learn? Maybe they’ll be able to control smart home devices or help you find your misplaced phone with a whistle and a blink (well, almost!).

A Samsung smart ring?

So, back in late 2022, there was a leak that Samsung was cooking up a smart ring. They were even talking about a ring that could keep tabs on your heart rate and ECG. But after that leak, there wasn’t much info about this fancy ring… until now.

Word on the street is that Samsung might start making a bunch of these Galaxy Rings in August this year. They’re pretty close to locking down the final version of this smart ring thing, and once they sort things out with their suppliers, it could go into production really quickly.

Now, here’s the kicker. If everything goes according to plan, and that’s a big “if,” we might see this Samsung Galaxy Ring hit the shelves in 2024. But hold your horses, there’s a catch.

This thing is gonna have all these health and fitness tracking features, so it needs to get some sort of medical thumbs-up. That could take a while, you know?

But here’s the deal, besides all this manufacturing gossip, we’re in the dark about the Samsung Galaxy Ring. All we kinda know is that it’s maybe gonna try to go head-to-head with the Oura Ring, which is this cool wearable that’s all about wellness stuff like sleep and activity tracking. It’s been rockin’ the market since 2013.

Samsung and Apple are in a pretty tight race when it comes to tech stuff. Their smartwatches, like the Samsung Galaxy Watch5, are already amazing.

They’ve got all the features and certifications that people are speculating the Galaxy Ring will have. From where I’m standing, it just seems like the same thing but without a screen.

But hey, I could be just nitpicking. Maybe the Samsung Galaxy Ring will totally blow us away. Who knows? Time will spill the beans on what it’s gonna be like and what it can do. Will it finally drop next year?

Final Words

If it does, I’m betting it’ll share the spotlight with a bunch of new smartphones at another Galaxy Unpacked event.

Even though I’m not totally sold on the idea, I gotta admit, I’m kinda curious to see what Samsung’s got cookin’. So, let’s see what happens!
