A Shadow Fell on Ellis Island

Elias Shadlock was a notorious London pickpocket.

Generated with Bing AI and adapted by the author using PowerPoint Design Creations.

Elias, AKA “the Shadow,” needed to escape London as the Bobbies closed in on him.

On the ship, he spotted a wealthy woman named Isabella. She constantly paraded around with her jewels and wealth.

He decided to relieve her of her worldly possessions once they would land.

When they docked on Ellis Island, Elias stealthily followed her and sprung his plan to grab her bag, intending to escape into New York.

However, as he reached for her bag, she snapped the cuffs onto his wrist and proclaimed, “Freeze, Shadlock! Detective Isabella Protini, Interpol. You have the right to remain silent…”

A drabble is exactly 100 words, no more, no less. In this case, the random word to build the story around is “footpad.”

A footpad is an old-world term for a pickpocket who is swift of foot and typically operates within big cities.

Thanks to Nancy Oglesby and Fiction Shorts for the daily challenge.

Here are three other drabbles for your enjoyment.
