You pull away from the gnome. “No thanks,” you say. “I’m no thief!”
“Suit yourself,” he murmurs, stomping off.
Fatigued, you mooch in the other direction. And as luck would have it, a young girl emerges from the cozy cottage as you’re nearby. She has tears in her eyes.
“What’s wrong, kid?”
“M… my father’s been trapped by the demon Impachik,” she stammers tearfully. “I need to go to town and find a brave adventurer to help.”
You glance at the cottage. “Or… I could rest here tonight, then help you in the morning?”
“I got food?” she says hopefully.
