Pebble Tower by Nicole Anders

A Pebble Beach Survival Guide

Spring Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Nature Art”

Add just one more stone, please!

What do you do when your local beach is full of pebbles rather than sand and you can’t:

  • build sandcastles.
  • throw yourself from standing onto soft silver sand to dry off after a swim.
  • hunt for shells?

After living near a pebbly beach for years, here are my #8 Top Tips for surviving, thriving, and having fun on a pebble beach.

My Top #8 Pebble Beach Survival Tips

1. Take padding, like a blanket or soft jacket, to sit on.

2. Wear flip-flops or wet shoes when walking down for a swim to save your feet.

3. Juggle two or three round pebbles in the air for fun.

4. Play skimming stones by holding a flat stone between thumb and forefinger, release it low over the water, then count the skips: highest score wins.

5. Hunt for a ‘perfect’ stone rather than the perfect shell.

6. Balance selected stones, one on top of the other, to build a pebble tower.

7. Sit on the blanket, at a distance from the tower, and aim stones to knock the tower over; the most accurate thrower wins.

8. Visit the beach at low tide if you hate pebbles and want to wiggle your toes in the sand instead.
